With insights from this review and an exploration of pedagogical methods, a mystagogy of the Sacrament of Penance was designed and shared with a group of adult Catholics. It proposes that there is a call from within and beyond the church to a new form of leadership; one that is more intentionally ecclesial, more prophetic and more mystical. The thesis-project explores contemporary understandings of prophecy and mysticism, and how a prophetic-mystical style of leadership might be appropriated by Catholic school leaders. By inspiring the remaining congregation, and empowering them using the principles espoused by the Second Vatican Council of reversing the hierarchy of the clergy and by following Jackson W. Carroll's model of how to exercise authority, they performed outreach in the surrounding community, extending an invitation to non-affiliated Catholics to attend Saint Peter's, and by listening to the spiritual needs of the people. The result was the expansion of the church to the point that it was possible to reopen the church building. Benedictine values of stability, obedience and conversion are interpreted for a church community. The context is a small suburban Episcopal church beginning a new ministry with their recently arrived priest. In various group feedback sessions, listeners expressed their understanding of how Benedictine values can shape the spiritual life of the church community and become part of its vision. The thesis offers a framework for spiritual renewal of a faith community through preaching."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128267454939136,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:57:06.061Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:50:05Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:19:59Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"55cbc5d0-e5f7-4452-b722-42128e56320f","accessControl_ssim":["4fab22d7-733e-4e94-a1f7-ab203a2231f2"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Mission: from violence to liberation and accompaniment: the formation of Latino/a leaders"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:50:04Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:38:50Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["a7d34bc2-ab63-4775-884f-60ffea5f9dad"],"hasLease_ssim":["2150f391-56cc-4112-9ba3-635bb863530a"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"advisor_tesim":["José David Rodríguez"],"year_tesim":["2008"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Gregory Jose Villalon"],"publisher_tesim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","Strategy","Catholic Church","Hispanic American Catholics","Missions"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This professionla paper presents an in-depth study of the mission models placing special emphasis on those used by priests in the Roman Catholic Church, during the conquest of Mexico and Latin America during the 15th century.
