From this, a distinction between the forms of worship and the substance of worship is offered. Following this distinction, new forms are suggested for worship.  Finally, the psychology of change is presented, with strategies offered.  Research is primarily through books contained in bibliography. The British school of object relations theory, especially Fairbairn and Guntrip, shows that 'splitting,' related to the introjection of the 'bad object,' is essential to a differentiated self.  Psychopathology stems from rigidifying splits in the self.  Healing depends on release of 'bad objects' in a transformational relationship, including transference with the therapist as 'good object.'
