By involving members in a prescribed pedagogical program the project sought to achieve three objectives: 1. an increased theological understanding of Christian worship; 2. an increased awareness of and participation in the worship service; and 3. an increased awareness of children's worship.  Two groups were enlisted.  A test group was involved in five pedagogical sessions; a control group was not.  A worship questionnaire was developed to show comparative scores before and after the pedagogical program.  Allport, Vernon, and Lindzey's 'Study of Values' was used to determine the effects of the project on personal values.  Both instruments indicated that the project's objectives were attained. After an examination and evaluation of John Westerhoff and James Fowler's work in faith development, interviews were undertaken with adults, young children, and clergypersons. Parents and all members of the faith community are vital in young children's faith development processes.  The faith community must be intentional in providing programs equipping and supporting the above in environments where young children can experience and hear about the faith. The dissertation begins with a section on the theology and 'theory' of worship. Franklin Baptist Church that were made during childhood in order to ascertain whether or not these professions of faith were authentic salvation experiences. A biblical examination is made of conversion, its application to children, and the possibility of false professions of faith. Childhood professions of faith are examined from psychological,  sociological, and historical points of view. Social research is used to determine the authenticity of the professions of faith that the congregation of Mt. Franklin Baptist Church made during childhood.
