There is no way of being human without participating in culture, for it is through culture that human community is created. This dissertation is a study of the work of 19th century missionaries into Chinland, Union of Burma. An evaluation of the data shows that these missionaries were not sensitive enough to the indigenous culture and tradition of the Chin. As a result of this study, Christian workers and missionaries will develop a healthy attitude towards different cultures, so they will do more effective mission work across cultural boundaries."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Ashland Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["beb93775-0b27-4cc6-9fb0-f2ad62e68517"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130834589188096,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:37:54.271Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:04:06Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:51:19Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"04f76482-a368-4e08-940c-8adff733f5dc","accessControl_ssim":["53d65979-d4d0-4e79-88ec-efd1c0dd0963"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Family renewal and the mission of the Kuki, Chin and Zomi peoples of Northeast India"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:04:06Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:15:40Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["02afdaff-616c-4f84-9f4b-d2ad4bdeb27d"],"hasLease_ssim":["69a4867a-5391-471c-8673-d6ee1634652f"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Western Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Donald K Smith"],"year_tesim":["2000"],"location_tesim":["India"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Khaute Khaizakham"],"publisher_tesim":["Western Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Zou (Indic people)","Chin (Southeast Asian people)","Families"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Strong families must be built in order to survive in the turbulent world of today.  The Kuki, Chin, and Zomi churches in northeast India can be true to their calling only when they demonstrate that the Christian family is different. Strong families will result in strong churches.  The method of research adopted for this product was mainly ethnography.  The writer depended on personal interviews, self-administered questionnaires, and participant observation.  The research has shown that there were good elements in the pre-Christian culture of this tribal people which need to be revitalized.  The burden of the product is to restore masculine leadership and effective fathering in the family."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Western Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["910240dd-6bfb-49cb-ab06-1b8de036aac8"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131682577842176,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:51:22.976Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":2,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Resource Type"},{"name":"creator_sim","items":[{"value":"Khaute Khaizakham","hits":1,"label":"Khaute Khaizakham"},{"value":"Thla-Awr Bawihrin","hits":1,"label":"Thla-Awr Bawihrin"}],"label":"Creator Sim"},{"name":"contributor_sim","items":[],"label":"Contributor"},{"name":"keyword_sim","items":[],"label":"Keyword"},{"name":"subject_sim","items":[{"value":"Chin (Southeast Asian people)","hits":2,"label":"Chin (Southeast Asian people)"},{"value":"Families","hits":1,"label":"Families"},{"value":"History","hits":1,"label":"History"},{"value":"Missions","hits":1,"label":"Missions"},{"value":"Missions--Social aspects","hits":1,"label":"Missions--Social aspects"},{"value":"Zou (Indic people)","hits":1,"label":"Zou (Indic people)"}],"label":"Subject"},{"name":"location_sim","items":[{"value":"India","hits":1,"label":"India"},{"value":"Myanmar","hits":1,"label":"Myanmar"}],"label":"Location"},{"name":"language_sim","items":[{"value":"English","hits":2,"label":"English"}],"label":"Language"},{"name":"publisher_sim","items":[{"value":"Ashland Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Ashland Theological Seminary"},{"value":"Western Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Western Seminary"}],"label":"Publisher"},{"name":"date_created_sim","items":[],"label":"Date Created"},{"name":"types_sim","items":[{"value":"Text","hits":2,"label":"Text"}],"label":"Type"},{"name":"year_sim","items":[{"value":"2000","hits":1,"label":"2000"},{"value":"2002","hits":1,"label":"2002"}],"label":"Year"},{"name":"format_sim","items":[],"label":"Format"},{"name":"member_of_collections_ssim","items":[{"value":"Ashland Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Ashland Theological Seminary"},{"value":"Western Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Western Seminary"}],"label":"Collections"},{"name":"degree_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":2,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Degree"},{"name":"discipline_sim","items":[],"label":"Discipline"},{"name":"degree_granting_institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Ashland Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Ashland Theological Seminary"},{"value":"Western Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Western Seminary"}],"label":"Degree Granting Institution"},{"name":"department_sim","items":[],"label":"Department"},{"name":"funder_name_sim","items":[],"label":"Funder Name"},{"name":"event_title_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Title"},{"name":"event_date_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Date"},{"name":"institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Atla RIM","hits":2,"label":"Atla RIM"}],"label":"Host Institution"}],"pages":{"current_page":1,"next_page":null,"prev_page":null,"total_pages":1,"limit_value":10,"offset_value":0,"total_count":2,"first_page?":true,"last_page?":true}}}
