John Bomberger and later James I. Goode had theological objections to the Evangelical Catholic reforms, so Bomberger and others opened a competing seminary called Ursinus (now Urinus College) to prepare low church clergy for the ministry in competition with Mercersburg (which later moved to Lancaster and became Lancaster Theological Seminary). My interest lies in the distinctive features of the Ursinus movement in order to determine how it had an impact on one congregation, Wolf’s Church. I hope to uncover the ways in which its theological principles encouraged certain ecclesial practices that lingered long after the controversy with the Mercersburg movement had faded from the congregation’s memory. My work answers the question, “What were the theological convictions and ecclesiastical practices of the Ursinus Movement as a response to the Mercersburg theology in its 19th century German Reformed Church context, including key figures, casual factors, salient features, features of the “Ursinus” piety/theology as distinct from Mercersburg, etc. Having identified the salient and distinctive characteristics of the Ursinus tradition, I then will explore the ways in which this heritage may have informed the ecclesial practices of Wolf’s Church and kept that legacy alive even when the congregants could not articulate the characteristics of the Ursinus tradition or even identify the theology embedded in their exposure in their corporate life as being in the Ursinus mold."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com","martins02@moravian.edu"],"_version_":1851860296763703296,"timestamp":"2025-12-18T15:26:42.596Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:40:53Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:51:56Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"3c9d9168-757a-4c33-8ff0-4c7911e8110a","accessControl_ssim":["97357d08-d4c6-470f-a85f-d74beac24272"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["'What would Clement do?' : recovering the catechumenate for faith formation today"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:40:53Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:53:16Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["fe5fcb70-3852-434b-9c58-57c0ef364ce8"],"hasLease_ssim":["02dc194e-b42f-4453-9999-ab0c2f3665f9"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Western Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["George Brown"],"year_tesim":["2013"],"location_tesim":["New York"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Its aim is to help the spiritually curious, newcomers, and regular church attenders develop a more informed understanding of the Christian faith, particularly through the lens of the Reformed Church in America (RCA). My research for this paper began at Marble Collegiate Church (RCA) in Manhattan—a large, urban church context. In the summer of 2011, I began my ministry as a solo pastor at The Community Reformed Church (CRC) at Manhasset, NY, a small, suburban congregation just outside of New York City. The Explorer’s Handbook and formative process that comprise my doctoral work both emerge from and serve both types of settings. The project director utilized an equipping model in order to accomplish the goals for this project. The first phase of implementation for this project was to research the fields of missional worship and postmodern culture for the purpose of developing annotated bibliographies in those fields to be used as research standards. The second phase of the project was to develop a workshop curriculum for the equipping of a worship design team to address cultural and missional issues related to worship. In the third phase the project director taught the curriculum in a weekend workshop to a multigenerational group of participants in the worship ministry, including members of the worship band, praise teams, choir, and audio-visual team. The Hanukkah Bible Study 301 also influenced the vertical faith, focused on God, and horizontal faith, centered on neighbor, of district leaders."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799715841334312960,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T01:52:54.709Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:38:14Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:30:52Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"dedca7b7-0a18-47f3-8b6b-6d3d25d86e03","accessControl_ssim":["c15b6dd5-9aa5-4fe0-976f-c04b0eca62ba"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A study on healthy church growth through a discipleship training program (CFSM) at Incheon Heuindol Church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:38:13Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:30:44Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["4580a871-4e08-4c06-a7b4-16960b63fb1f"],"hasLease_ssim":["2fe81ac7-92a4-4c47-be04-dcf13fca294a"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Kyunglim Shin Lee"],"year_tesim":["2013"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Building on knowledge relative to biblical teachings, historical church discipleship, and contemporary literature on this subject, this study advocates the use of three phases of teaching to accomplish this goal. These are the study of a contemporary catechism; the development of Life Groups that incorporate Bible study, fellowship, and service; and a mentoring ministry that pairs spiritually older believers with spiritually younger believers. The findings suggest that awareness and transformation do result from intentional efforts to disciple believers."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130894651621376,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:38:51.550Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:34:32Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:22:20Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"82892197-2176-4e4b-b0a0-2cd8baf6d30d","accessControl_ssim":["4c3ce809-f52b-44ae-824a-206d47d43e5c"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The development, implementation, and assessment of a nutrition curriculum unit for grades 9-12 in Seventh-day Adventist Schools in Ontario"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:34:30Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:58:56Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["45d5e363-d74f-4745-b16a-454c5efd17a4"],"hasLease_ssim":["0b1ac867-314d-4b66-b90c-a7ee922a008f"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Tyndale University"],"advisor_tesim":["J Kevin Livingston"],"year_tesim":["2013"],"location_tesim":["Canada"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Maria G McClean"],"publisher_tesim":["Tyndale University College and Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Children--Nutrition","Seventh-Day Adventists","Christian education","Seventh-Day Adventists--Education"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Nutrition instruction is integral to balanced education. In Seventh-day Adventist schools in Ontario, instruction in nutrition has been inconsistent historically. To start addressing this inconsistency, this project pursued the development, implementation, and assessment of a nutrition curriculum unit for grades 9 to 12 in Seventh-day Adventist schools in Ontario. It was developed and tested at Crawford Adventist Academy. The curriculum objectives were that students would understand the contribution of nutrition to optimal health, identify and access trustworthy nutrition resources, link nutrition principles to personal Christian stewardship, and honour God by making consistent, healthy nutrition choices that would result in behavioural change."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Tyndale University"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["602e7e7c-0b8b-4e09-af87-84c66ff49c48"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133633904377856,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:22:23.906Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":16,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
