This project focuses on the role of education as a tool for addressing the social and spiritual needs of these first-generation immigrants. This project is an exploration of the assertion that parents and church leaders should guide their children in order to lay foundations for faith.  As a practical application of this assertion the author provides a curriculum for postmodern families to access as an at-home worship and Bible study experience.  The paper includes a theology for the family, an exploration of the church's role in spiritual formation, and the literature review. State College, the setting, where this project took place, was introduced in the first chapter of this project. I examined the biblical basis for discipleship training. The writer looked at the historical background of discipleship training and followed the works of various campus ministry groups in Korea. This ministry project analyzed the discipleship-training materials that are currently in use by churches in Korea and Korean churches in the States. With this analysis, results from the pre-survey, and the help of the Curriculum Advisory Committee, the writer created new curriculum and ran it through with the congregation via post survey. In summary, it has been determined that the curriculums created by the campus ministry groups and used by Korean churches in the States cannot be used effectively. The intent of this project is to create an environment of transformation for the development of virtuous leaders at Crosspoint Church in Hemet, California.  This project, therefore, developed lectures on the creation ordinances of Genesis, the wisdom sayings of Proverbs, the beatitudes of Matthew's gospel, and the key vice and virtue lists of the New Testament.  The research design combined thirteen weeks of instruction, weekly sermonic reading, daily practice of the spiritual disciplines, and evaluation instruments. The project was conducted in March of 2007. The parents were provided syllabi and participated in three teaching sessions, enjoyed a catered lunch, and concluded the workshop with an extended time for questions and answers. Follow-up support groups met for the three consecutive Sunday evenings.  The seminar addressed cognitive, skill-development, and affective issues centered on the issues of childrearing. Method: a sociological questionnaire was implemented on a select group of Michigan Adventists and three focus groups; a manual was constructed and refined in two pilot lay-training seminars.  Results: Adventists had stereotypical perceptions of Jewish people, but were willing to be educated for interaction.  Evaluations revealed that participants' understanding of Jewish people improved.  Follow-up suggestions were recommended.  Conclusions: Adventists' attitudes toward Jews are influenced by theology, a lack of familiarity, ignorance, and stereotypes.  Lay and clergy training seminars are needed.
