The student designed a thirteen week curriculum which consisted of lecture, discussions, and journal keeping.  A pre-test and two post-tests were given to assess changes in belief, values, and behaviors.  These evaluative tests indicate that changes which were positively correlated with class objectives were most strongly and reliably catalyzed by the method of journal keeping. Theological treatment of God's people sent forth into mission and gifts for ministry combine with a theoretical consideration of the nature of adult education, the leader's role, and the components in this educational curriculum.  The two emerge in an educational process that emphasizes the discovery of individual gifts for ministry.  The learnings chapter examines the project suggesting a theological approach that begins with and emphasizes mission.  Gifts become resources for ministry, discovered as a person becomes engaged in mission. Four laypersons and the rector participated in the training and catechesis. The project became a reality in 1981.  It was designed to fulfill two goals: 1. to articulate my theological understanding of the relationship between the church's educational ministry and its pastoral ministry of faith development; 2. to develop a three year program of adult education rooted in that theological understanding. The method of study included: classes, readings, Christian education committee work and the parish life and ministry development process.  For the congregation the project resulted in: 1. an opportunity to plan and implement a three year adult education program; 2. a booklet which outlines the educational ministry program and presents the theological goals, and statements which undergird the
