The model utilized a sermon series, church retreat, and a small group Bible study to increase the congregation's ability to be leaders of a transitioning church. Consequences of the analysis indicated a healthy vital church as a result of leadership training related to church retreats, small group Bible study, and sermon series. It looked at how they changed as a result of that practice.  The Christian spiritual participation profile was used to measure the balance of and depth of participation in: their experience with God, their critical reflection of culture and self, their interaction with God's Word, and their relationship with others. Younger generations will need to fill the inevitable void in congregational leadership that comes with time. To affect the transfer of leadership from one generation to another, the current leaders need to be prepared to share the leadership with people who see the world differently. The researcher conducted a congregational survey and analyzed responses from two focus group interviews. This project assessed how a leadership retreat and an adult education seminar affected the participants' attitudes and behaviors regarding the transfer of leadership to younger generations. The workshop was a seven-week training event that equipped twelve people, six men and six women, to be spiritual mentors.  The project director used various evaluative measures, including assistance from academic expert Dr. Jerry Pounds and educational expert Carol Passmore, to analyze the project.  The workshop launched spiritual mentoring as a disciple-making strategy at His Church in Pineville. To achieve the goals for this project, the project director utilized an equipping module. The first phase of the project involved researching many different resources in the field of small groups and small group leadership skills. The project director utilized these resources to produce the lessons used to equip the selected group. The second phase was to develop a seminar, including lesson plans and a student workbook. The final phase of the project involved implementing the seminar for the initial training of the selected group. The seminar consisted of an introduction session, four lessons, a conclusion session and an implementation discussion. The seminar was conducted on four Sunday afternoons. Developing God's people into leaders who demonstrate Christ-like character is not only the greatest need in the world today, but also in today's church; therefore, developing competent spiritual leadership through discipleship must be its top priority. The following questions are answered: What can churches do to prepare men and women to develop into godly leaders? What can Waukegan Community Church do to become a disciple-making reproducing church? Will Discipleship for leadership make a significant contribution in helping Waukegan Community Church become a disciple-making, leader-developing church?
