The fourth chapter is a critical self-evaluation of this project and what this project might add as a resource for the adult Christian education leader. The four-step assimilation strategy consists of attending New Orientation Class, joining a small group, completing Discover class, and getting involved through Servant By Design. The basic premise of the project is that although spiritual growth, or life transformation, is something only God produces, there is a definite role that individuals play as recipients of God's grace. Although spiritual growth is a process, it also requires intentional effort on the part of the believer. The Apostle Paul indicates the need for this kind of balance when he says, 'Continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose' (Philippians 2:12-13). This pilot project involves offering a discipleship class called The Spiritual Exploration Class. The class challenges participants to identify a spiritual growth edge in their lives. Then, within the context of a small group and together with a spiritual director, each participant develops a personal spiritual growth plan to give focus to his or her efforts. The project essentially serves as a catalyst to move a person toward spiritual growth. The success of the pilot project is measured against the stated objectives of the project for the purpose of improving future programming. Pre-course questionnaires/interviews were used to gather information from ABF attendees, other large church evangelism leaders and Chapel pastors.  Findings provided singificant content and structure for the curriculum.  Six Sunday lessons were presented in the ABFs.  Each lesson addressed the biblical mindset of personal outreach and methods for verbally representing Christ.  ABF participants and teachers responded to a post-course questionnaire.  Results showed appreciation for the course but need for more discussion time. It is a ten-session, twelve hour training course.  For this project the course was conducted using a retreat setting for half of the sessions and five consecutive Sunday evenings for the remaining sessions.  The primary target group is adult teachers currently serving in the project leader's church.  In addition, a select number of potential leaders were enlisted to participate. The project will address the following content areas: The purpose of Sunday School, the role of teaching in Sunday School, spiritual gifts in relationship to teaching, developmental stages of adults, learning and how learning occurs, levels of learning, how to study the Bible, lesson preparation steps, methods of teaching, lesson presentation skills, learning styles, and teaching for spiritual transformation. This course is designed to only address teaching needs and does not address organizational or outreach roles for the teacher.  A course text will be prepared by the project leader along with various teaching aids, worksheets, survey forms, visual aids, and evaluation forms. This researcher conducted a project using collaborative means of leadership development training to grow the leaders into leadership roles and give them tools to duplicate that leadership method with others. Fourteen leaders took part in retreats, video presentations, lectures, and testing.
