Will they be able to live more consistently as Christian disciples in the world? This project seeks to answer these questions a pretest/posttest questionnaire administered to 68 laypersons.  The experimental group of 34 persons received six hours of theological instruction. The control group of 34 persons received no instruction. Lutheran congregations can benefit from an intentional catechetical course for adults. This project outlines development of a catechetical course in seven sessions for Lutheran adults, including study of baptism, prayer and confession, communion, healing, the church, discipleship, and caregiving.  Drawing on the history of the church, the course brings issues of faith into current perspective using the 'shared praxis' approach to teaching. Intentional theological reflection should enable people to reflect on vocational call as people of God, to claim gifts for ministry in all parts of life, and to identify daily issues as ministry issues. The project helps participants gain self-awareness of personal feelings and inclinations in relation to conflict, learning in the process to help others in the church react to conflict in a way that builds up the unity of the church.  When church leaders are able to respond appropriately to conflict situations, they develop within the congregation a healthy environment conducive to unity.  Ten sessions with project participants, using common language rather than technical terms, involve discussion, role play, and case studies. The project designed a curriculum of eight training sessions and five strategy-development sessions.  The entire church heard a series of eight sermons on the life and mission of the church.  The project studied an experimental group and two control groups, using a pretest and posttest to measure cognitive changes in the groups.  Statistical analysis of the tests reported a change in Control Group A and a significant change in the experimental group. In eight-week training sessions grief ministry team members are equipped with listening skills, grief counseling skills, understanding of the grieving process, and a biblical perspective on grief that enables team members to answer some of the difficult questions that arise when people face death. One of the most significant biblical texts pertaining to discipleship is the Sermon on the Mount. This project assists a small group of Christians to grow in knowledge and understanding of the Sermon on the Mount, demonstrating and applying this knowledge and understanding in their lives. This project produces a study guide to be used by group members in daily family instruction. Weekly learning activities involve entire families in discipleship, supplemented by a sermon series in the local church.
