In 1986 the school needed to be reorganized because it lacked clear goals and a well-defined action plan for accomplishing those goals.  Also, materials used were insufficient for training members.  The implementation of this project demands a sound theological foundation which included an adequate view of scripture, ministry, and the role of the local church as seen in the Assemblies of God.  The biblical and historical role of the laity is discussed in order to provide an adequate basis for implementing a school of lay ministry. Its origin reflects a dual involvement in peace and justice work and adult education, and its scope has resulted in a model for education for peace and justice ministry.  The process employed in delineating the model is akin to that of an action/reflection mode of learning.  It is rooted in longstanding peace and justice action, and is expressive  of diverse experience in adult education. Through a synthesis of research and reflection, action and analysis, the dissertation seeks to systematize theological and educational resources into a coherent model of education for peace and justice ministry. A five step procedure includes: an adult education program; the training of volunteers; the formation of a cable television committee; viewer identification and needs assessment; and production of four television programs over a one year period.  Evaluation by a team of viewers, producers, and committee members indicates that the procedure is effective, with the exception of the fourth step.  The place of humblecasting in the life of the church is considered. Ten Bible study 'methods' were studied and applied to passages in the Pastoral Epistles. An accompanying teacher's manual was provided.  Teaching methodology included the use of an overhead projector, role playing, lecture, discussion, and small group activities. The author begins with reviews of the literature dealing with the authority of the Bible and approaches to Bible study.  A model is developed with First Corinthians as the text to be studied.  A questionnaire measures the change in the participants' perception of their ability to understand and find meaning in biblical texts. The group explored ways in which the canonical text and its claims confront, interpret, and reshape the individual stories of contemporary believers.  The works of Frederiick Buechner provided perspective, commentary, and a medium of exchange between the biblical world and the world of contemporary listeners. The software provided the teaching mechanisms; the teacher provided the information to be taught by that software. Journals were kept of the lesson creation and lesson teaching experiences.  Some participants were interviewed following the learning experiences.
