The hypothesis was that I could design and teach a Vacation Bible School theme on stewardship of all creation. The project was based on the action research model. The hypothesis was proven correct. The author argues that the 'I am' sayings and their pericopes in the gospel of John provide parents a theological and pedagogical foundation from which they may shape the Christological development of their pre-adolescent children. Research indicated a ministry need for such a resource. Scripture was surveyed for additional insight into parental pedagogy, the child, and the 'image of God.' The author researched the scriptural mandate for using biblical narratives to teach children about God, and the potential usefulness of developmental theories for children ages 7 to 11.  Participants in the project were trained according to the findings of the research.  After being trained, they taught a new curriculum that reflects the research findings.  Data from focus groups and surveys measured changes in the workers' attitudes and understandings.
