If this statement is true, then both science and scripture reveal God to us. His attributes of love, goodness, reason, and logic are reflected in both. But if there is no God and evolution is true, then neither nature nor the Bible has anything authoritative to say to us about life. If moral sanity is to be restored to the church, and thus, the world, it is absolutely imperative that the two books of God be reclaimed. Both are supernatural. Both reveal God's character. Recruits attending the Lutheran Communion Service and catechetical instruction at MCRD, San Diego, CA, expressed grave concern over the morality of killing in combat. This project explored the pastoral care of Marine Recruits using Luther's explanation of the Fifth Commandments, the Fourth Commandment, and the historic just war tradition. A Sunday School class engaged a six-week study and observance of sabbath/Lord's Day, informed by a vision of the messianic banquet.  Participants wrote journals weekly and reflected together on their experiences.  With cultural interest in keeping sabbath growing, the author learned that the church should not replicate the Jewish sabbath, nor should it carelessly adapt it.
