This thesis contends that James and Jude built their ethical appeals on an assumed, apostolic theology generated by the resurrection, which included a high Christology and an expectant eschatology. As the watershed, foundational event in the early church, the resurrection prompted massive and widespread shifts in the apostles’ Christological comprehension, ethical construction, and exegetical methods. Rather than leaving James and Jude in the unintelligible backwaters of the NT, this thesis shows that these brothers of Jesus were not only aligned with the apostolic theology behind all of the NT documents but were also influential in its formation and application. The future of our churches and society will be decided on how we care and raise them up as responsible, God-fearing individuals in the present time. Our world is getting smaller with the passing of time. It has become a global village where every crazy thing going on around can be felt in an instant with the media culture getting hold of every nook and corner of many young minds. Immorality has become an accepted norm; sexual assaults have become an uncommon part of daily news, broken homes in every corner of the streets, divorce due to infidelity of spouses, the list goes on. These are not new phenomena anymore, and the church has become a silent witness to many of these abominations.Sadly, many of these problems are related to misunderstanding, misinterpretation, and mismanagement of human sexuality. Nepalese society has her share of issues related to all these happenings as well. Therefore, with a concern to heal as well as protect the young people who will be our future from becoming degraded human beings, and the zeal to raise them to be Christ-like disciples, following His ways in living holy and acceptable lives before God and man, I devoted my time and energy to explore and research as to how to benefit them. In due time, I realized that imparting proper sex education to these young lives through Christian education ministry in the church can be and will be of great value.
https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/
https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/
https://repository.westernsem.edu/xmlui/handle/1866/11186
["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing
deposited
Western Theological Seminary
c24f9e0f-f5f0-45a3-b7f1-6a406c6902fb
open
Metadata Only
rim.ir.atla.com
Etd
public","work_editor
admin
ckarpinski@atla.com
["Etd
133f2c6d-bd02-481f-a762-cd143e412b37
68ecd908-c3fd-4728-91d2-8ba31fc870df
ckarpinski@atla.com
ckarpinski@atla.com
Serving God through Faithful Stewardship on Our Common Home:Equipping Good Shepherd United Methodist Church and The United Methodist Church of Savage for the Anthropocene
["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8
eb4a2f0a-8ab6-41fa-b784-3dac01bf82f2
0a19926a-c6fd-4c24-8e19-6599fac66f00
1
1
Atla RIM
Doctor of Ministry
Wesley Theological Seminary
Lovett Weems Ph.D.
2023
United Kingdom","United States
D.Min. This holistic mission is an adequate ethic for local church outreach to the whole person in society. (b) A whole life ethic of the local church embodies the compassion of Christ. (c) A whole life ethic is consistent, as a local church engages itself in sanctity of life as well as quality of life issues. These criteria are the guiding principles of this project and are utilized in this assessment and development of an ethic of life for the local Wesleyan Church. This whole life ethic addresses issues along the whole spectrum of life from conception to death. That spectrum confronts such sanctity of life issues as abortion, capital punishment and modern warfare, as well as quality of life issues such as economic poverty and despair. This project calls for an introduction and integration of a 'consistent ethic-of-life mission' into the social outreach ministry of a local church. Integrating this mission into a local church means that the project was involved in an introductory attempt to insert a new social mission agenda into the present mission of that church. The strategy introduced an educational approach that would lead to the establishment of a social outreach ministry, through the use of a primer that was pilot-tested in three symposiums. The symposiums were conducted at three Wesleyan Churches in the Indiana Central District: Crawfordsville Sonlight Wesleyan Church, Indianapolis Shelby Street Wesleyan Church, and the Tipton Trinity Wesleyan Church.
https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/
https://www.proquest.com/dissertations-theses/toward-consistent-ethic-life-mission-wesleyan/docview/304074746/se-2
["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing
deposited
Lancaster Theological Seminary
77231467-10ce-4737-858a-8cc38e70a4f9
open
Metadata Only
rim.ir.atla.com
Etd
public","work_editor
admin
ckarpinski@atla.com
["Etd
bcb5ab2d-741c-47fc-b8f3-c40418600030
9cd5c350-be4d-4b28-995d-0bd670fb76ae
ckarpinski@atla.com
ckarpinski@atla.com
Addressing the wounds of racism through the lens of moral injury : a qualitative study drawing on Black liberation and Womanist theology
["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8
67ca316d-c08c-4a92-8135-09f75c6b95a1
ab337ce4-aa80-43e3-8921-c1114b4299e9
1
1
Atla RIM
DMin
Lancaster Theological Seminary
2019

D.Min. An argument is presented, the purpose of which is to show how Black Liberation Theology enhances Moral Injury Theory and how Moral Injury Theory provides tools for addressing the effects of racism. In so doing, the concept of moral injury strengthens Black Liberation Theology by expanding its resolve to serve within communities affected by racism and indeed with all humanity. In addition, the theology of liberation may provide support for the spiritual attempt to encourage sufferers of moral injury through transcendent concepts such as forgiveness, reconciliation, and perhaps even atonement. This project also provides pastors, chaplains, and others with the kind of understandings and motivations that will assist them in meeting the needs of parishoners who may be struggling with the despair of the hidden wounds of racism that display the symptoms of moral injury.
https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/
http://archive.lancasterseminary.edu/items/show/382
["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing
deposited
Lancaster Theological Seminary
77231467-10ce-4737-858a-8cc38e70a4f9
open
Metadata Only
rim.ir.atla.com
Etd
public","work_editor
admin
ckarpinski@atla.com
["Etd
5cee12de-65fa-4ff8-be00-0de7ea6213b1
7c9a9b05-5b4b-4e62-b411-24fd466eb412
ckarpinski@atla.com
ckarpinski@atla.com
Faithful conversations : same-sex relationships and the Christian faith
["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8
d1d6d9de-546c-4544-8099-76192659588e
bec6ba26-61bc-4c91-ae92-29911691d42d
1
1
Atla RIM
Doctor of Ministry
Western Theological Seminary
George R. In contrast, this project explores how a local congregation can grow in unity, purity, and peace while holding a variety of viewpoints on same-sex marriage. The project consisted of a congregation-wide event called Faithful Conversations: Same-Sex Relationships and the Christian Faith. First, the pastors complexified the conversation around same-sex marriage and the Christian faith beyond for and against by presenting five faithful Christian responses to same-sex marriage. Second, a licensed therapist facilitated a panel discussion where people holding different perspectives on same-sex marriage shared their stories, values, and viewpoints. Third, the facilitator invited the congregation to interact with panel members using an adaptation of the Restorative Circles process for people experiencing conflict. Data from the project reveal that this congregation defied the pattern of division over same-sex marriage. In fact, the congregation grew in authenticity of relationships, mutual understanding, and theological insight. Based on the results of this project, the researcher developed a model called Faithful Conversations: Same-Sex Relationships and the Christian Faith for use in other congregations.
https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/
https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/
https://repository.westernsem.edu/xmlui/handle/1866/1982
["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing
deposited
Western Theological Seminary
c24f9e0f-f5f0-45a3-b7f1-6a406c6902fb
open
Metadata Only
rim.ir.atla.com
Etd
public","work_editor
admin
ckarpinski@atla.com
["Etd
c3544453-3da4-4a42-8c50-9c936c4b2c54
406e478c-8da7-45fa-a5a9-411bf00ae6ef
ckarpinski@atla.com
ckarpinski@atla.com
Learning to Dialogue and Discern: Conversations that Matter in the Local Church
["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8
7387a6d3-4b93-4b38-a103-7e90b230b9af
c77a1428-70d5-4430-92e3-a0e25bb66992
1
1
Atla RIM
Doctor of Ministry
Mercer University, McAfee School of Theology
Jeffrey Willetts Ph.D.","David Gushee Ph.D.
2019
Georgia","United States
D.Min. Learning how to navigate the dual enterprises of exploring politicized moral issues in a church community setting and fundamentally changing how a group dialogues requires deep examination of Christian morality, the ethical methodologies to assess it and make moral recommendations in group settings, and the group dynamics and dialogue / discernment models. With the deep social and political divide in the United States today, politically diverse churches like River Road Church, Baptist in Richmond, Virginia have often become silent on issues of moral importance that have become politicized, or have even split along secular political party lines, instead of seeking to find a Christian response to contemporary political and social issues through productive dialogue. This project sought to create a covenantal ethical discerning dialogue that produces a way of having a productive dialogue within church leadership that is theologically rich, intellectually serious, genuinely illuminating about moral issues, and that leaves the community intact. Ultimately, the project results seemed to indicate that such a model for discerning dialogue was necessary and helpful for church leaders, while also providing some insight to needed changes to the dialogue process.
https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/
http://hdl.handle.net/10898/12329
["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing
deposited
Miscellaneous
4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a
open
Metadata Only
rim.ir.atla.com
Etd
work_editor","public
admin
ckarpinski@atla.com
D.Min.
