The concept of ' covenant' became a vehicle for testing the potential for meeting such a need. Research in various disciplines — biblical, historical and sociological — broadened the understanding of the term and provided the basis for the doctor in ministry project.Using the research and participatory methodologies in the project, I took a sample group through a real life experiment with covenant-renewing. Corinthians II","Christian life","Christian stewardship"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Giving is one of the most effective forms of worship we have available to us, but it has become the most exploitive and misunderstood element of the worship service. The methods and language used to frame giving within worship have led to exploitation resulting in unwillingness to wholeheartedly participate in giving as an element of worship. The literature addressing giving and the biblical interpretations are lacking in accurately speaking to the issues that arise in applying Old and New Testament scripture to address giving as an element of worship. There are a growing number of articles attempting to address the covetous nature involved in the methods and language used in inviting people to give to God. This work evaluated the giving practice in Blessed Harvest Institute by evaluating some Old and New Testament scriptures and determining how the interpretations are to be applied in the methods and language used to frame the giving experience in the worship service. Leviticus 27:30-33, Deuteronomy 14:22-29, Malachi 3, Acts 3-5, 2 Corinthians 8-9, and other scriptures were used to understand the methods and language of giving biblically. Giving is to be a freewill expression of worship executed in an environment of liberty. It is necessary to reframe the concept of tithing not to be an obligation but a personal choice to express worship to God. Any prompting will remove worship from giving. The Project Director presented four training series and a one-day retreat on Spiritual Leadership, the Discipling Process, Practicing the Spiritual Disciplines, and Spiritual Formation. The results of this project will serve to help local churches facilitate single millennials to become committed church members. Single millennials hold a worldview that makes it difficult for them to participate in the local church in the way that the New Testament describes. This worldview or individualism causes millennials to participate in local churches without commitment, and their loose affiliation with the local church is producing spiritual nomads. The New Testament clearly describes the Christian life being lived within the bounds of committed membership in the local church. The author explored the background of the sweeping changes that the Church faces in the twenty-first century, visited congregations of various sizes and locations to investigate how the average parishioner understands discipleship, and undertook the work of developing a parish covenant as a way of strengthening community and forming disciples for the work of mission. Parish surveys, semi-structured interviews and statistical analysis were employed. In this project, the author proposes that reimagining call and response in preaching as an ongoing sermon conversation advances discipleship in the congregation. The congregation begins the dialogue with the preacher prior to the development of the sermon; participates in traditional call and response during the sermon, and continues the conversation after the sermon is preached.
