The Growing in Christ material, published by the Navigators, was translated into the Vietnamese language for the purpose of discipling new Vietnamese immigrant converts in Canada.  The case study and survey methodology were employed to conduct research and collect data.  The proposed discipleship material was field-tested.  Average and mean responses of the questionnaire were tabulated and analyzed. Modifications were made each year for each group.  There was a concern that the experience be more than a course on the history, polity, doctrine, or theology of Methodism.  Instead of offering a class on information about Christ and Christianity, a process of Christian formation was sought.  Mutual accountability of the covenant group was combined with instruction on the acts of compassion, justice, worship, and devotion, in the atmosphere of faith sharing-telling the stories of our faith. Participants wrote a group covenant, met for 18 weeks for sharing, prayer, and instruction, and used the Sunday Lectionary for daily prayer, meditation, and preparation for Christian living. The sermon preparation process develops a synthetic outline, propositions (exegetical, theological and homiletical) for sermon portions and message outlines. The communication strategy designs sermons to persuasively preach elements of discipleship.  The spiritual journey evaluation measures congregational change in discipleship attitudes and actions.  The post-test assesses relative effects of other variables.  The congregation demonstrated increased discipleship, though the difference was not statistically significant. The thesis emphasizes the necessity of trained ministers to do pastoral work among the Assemblies churches of the Puerto Rico District. The author used questionnaires interviews and group work. Revitalization of an intern full time study program was the strategy selected. In cases where the strategy did not work out favorably, other alternatives were structured. Research conducted in the area of small groups clarifies the nature and dynamics of small group ministry. The result of the research is a six-week program designed to teach discipleship through covenant relationship and spiritual gift discovery.  The project consists of two groups of eight to ten people. It produces unique problems for Protestant chaplains who have an earnest desire to enlist service men and women for discipleship training.  The ministry project included a twelve-week workshop.  Resources for the project incorporated books and articles on discipleship and information obtained through personal interviews with officers and men of USS CARL VINSON (CVN 70). The project resulted in the participants gaining an understanding of discipleship and learning guidelines to enhance their spiritual lives. A curriculum was designed that consisted of eleven discipleship training sessions.  These discipleship training sessions took place weekly.  To determine the effectiveness of the program, the experimental research method was used.
