The hypothesis was tested in India by developing and implementing a discipleship training program with mentoring. The project involved training two groups of students called mentoring and non-mentoring.  After fifteen weeks of discipleship training, test scores indicated that the mentored group had an edge over the non-mentored. The primary purpose of this project is not to argue the pros and cons of one method over another, but to gain ownership of discipleship principles by the leadership team of the church.  The project consists of twelve lesson plans developed around the church's ministry values.  The lessons were taught to the board of elders and a pilot group.
