The author offered six classes coupled with a daily reflection journal as a means to challenge persons to examine their giving and state the reason for giving, reflecting the theology of John Wesley.  Classes were designed using Groome's 'shared Christian praxis.' This qualitative study was designed to observe the impact such a class would have on a small group.  The format was group discussion based on class handouts of questions with both written and practical assignments.  All participants were interviewed twice, and four were selected for a final interview.  Impact varied highly, but was generally limited by both the course length and the lack of one-on-one time. These disciplines are examined through reflection on scripture, dialogue with liberation theology, and consideration of insights gained in a series of adult study groups led by the author.
