Matthew"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Exploratory reserach was conducted to generate a descriptive summary of the coaching philosophies within the sport of football. A literature review and survey revealed two primary philosophies coaches have employed: principle- and performance-based. The researcher investigated the principle-based approach, primarily because of the values these coaches shared. The principle-oriented group contained a subset that articulated a biblical focus. A series of interviews was conducted to discover what connection biblically-based coaches might have with the leadership of Christ. The results suggested that coaching could function as a form of discipleship. This led to an exegetical investigation of the Gospel of Matthew. The result was the identification of a set of values and practices that helped Christian coaches better connect their faith with their profession. After interviewing ten Asian American churches in the northeastern United States in regards to their discipleship processes, and reviewing selected literature on discipleship, a process was developed. Churches in the United States often struggle to effectively equip believers with a strong foundation in the Word of God and to multiply by making disciples. The lack of relationships within the church body that encourage and guide spiritual formation, and discipleship that does not integrate transparent relationships, mutual accountability, and biblical truth, are part of the cause. The Gospel is nourishment the Christian needs for that change. Therefore, this project tested the effectiveness of a church-based program created to convince Christian adults that the gospel is for them, bring clarity to their definition of the gospel, and teach them how the gospel functions to make them more like Christ. The program consisted of sermons, small group discussion and daily devotional reading. From these best practices, the project director developed a seminar to equip selected senior adult members of Brainerd Baptist Church. The project director has researched resources in the field of relational discipleship and developed as annotated bibliography and a teaching standard with the help of experts in the field of relational discipleship. The project evaluated an ongoing progressive, relational discipleship process implemented in a local church via a partnership between Worldwide Discipleship Association (WDA) and New Hope Baptist Church of Fayetteville, GA. The project director, targeting a select group of young adult leaders and using resources developed by WDA, presented a philosophical and practical overview of a relational discipleship paradigm through a two-day workshop. Also, the project director implemented a segment of a focused equipping and emotional model for ministry process by using a three to five-month training curriculum and experience. The results indicated a statistically significant increase in the level of theological grounding, of discipleship practices and improvements in the quality of the participants' soul life with God.
