The curriculum was developed based on the words of Jesus, 'Follow me and I will make you become fishers of men' (Mk. 1:17 NAS). The selected believers participated in the developed six-week discipleship study that contained two weeks on following Jesus, two weeks on Jesus' conforming the believer and two weeks on the Christian's responsibility in soul winning. The study included group meetings followed by daily, individual lessons, Monday through Friday. The participants were evaluated before, during, and after the study. The primary goals of the project were to research the biblical basis for the personal responsibility of sharing Christ, to develop a discipleship curriculum that addressed that responsibility and its practice, and to equip the believers to become followers of Jesus and fish for men."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5e492469-490e-44a3-90c1-17560a603bc2"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799721100759793664,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T03:16:30.489Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:33:26Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T01:54:57Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"0d0b92f8-7928-464c-9e74-4d7e73469878","accessControl_ssim":["b41a313d-e985-4603-b485-ecd0ee524336"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A disciple-making strategy for First Baptist Church, Belle Chasse, Louisiana"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:33:25Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:29:09Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["0fde173e-d2fa-4ca7-b952-5e806a49b137"],"hasLease_ssim":["ddc61824-ce3e-40d2-ac98-86fc7ea0d70e"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Reggie R Ogea"],"year_tesim":["2006"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Freddie W Williford"],"publisher_tesim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Evangelistic work","Spiritual formation","Christian life","First Baptist Church (Belle Chasse, La)","Mentoring in church work"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of the project is to develop a disciple-making strategy for First Baptist Church, Belle Chasse, Louisiana. The project will attempt to show the ineffectiveness, or at best the short-term results of the 'church growth' methodologies that mask as discipleship and offer an urban discipleship as a substitute through a modeled church partnership. The project will be framed in Dr. Eldin Villafane's 'hermeneutical circle of social ethics.' Clarification (chapter 1 -- the ministry challenge) will give the basis for the thesis and the context. Conceptualization (chapters 2 \u0026 3 -- the precedent literature and the theological perspective) will offer a sociological and biblical view of the issue. The church's primary mission is carrying out the task of fulfilling the Great Commission, and the New Testament concept of discipleship is the primary focus of the church's ministry. The New Testament concept of discipleship is imitating Christ to become like Him in love, obedience, and good work; thus, the goal of the church's overall ministry is the believer's Christian maturity to the fullness of Christ. Committing one's life to Jesus Christ and faithfully following Him, and leading others to be His disciples is true Christian ministry: as practiced by women to women, this is true women's ministry. Women following Jesus Christ and becoming disciple-makers in a theology for effective ministry to women. Mobilizing women to live out that theology is the Christian practice for women in the twenty-first-century church.
