Missionaries and colonialists alienated Gikuyu lands and also rejected their traditional religion and culture. Field research included questionnaires and group interviews in rural and urban churches of the Roman Catholic Church, Presbyterian Church of East Africa and the African Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa. The research discloses elements of Agikuyu traditional religion and culture could be integrated into Christianity making it truly relevant. Jesus Christ can be appreciated as ancestor, prophet, liberator, medicine man, and sacrificial lamb. An analysis was done of researcher's failure to impact presbytery. The researcher then built foundation for new mission work of Presbytery's Partnership Program based on insights from researcher's ineffectiveness as change agent. New project analyzed presbytery's mission approach learned from history of missions in Western Christianity. Because Jesus demonstrated His bond with the disciples through footwashing and gave them instruction to wash each other's feet, reminding them of the connection they had in Christ and with each other for fulfilling Christ's mission, so Middle Pennsylvania congregations (a people whose ministry tradition is defined as a community through footwashing) who have come consciously or unconsciously to develop a secular understanding of District structure as Institution, are called to recover the identity of District Ministry as a network of partners communing with Christ and each other. The project has three main parts: (1) chapter one lays out the theological underpinnings for the central thesis, a definition of evangelism that can be used effectively and with integrity in the preparation and carrying out of weddings and funerals, and three 'guidelines' pastors can use as they prepare weddings and funerals with evangelism in mind; (2) chapters two and three each contain three case studies which serve to illustrate the central thesis and function as models for pastors who wish to be more effective in their wedding and funeral ministries; (3) the fourth chapter summarizes the author's conclusions and learnings.  The result of the project is a theologically driven resource for pastors who wish to minister effectively and evangelistically as they prepare and conduct weddings and
