The project studies the form and movement of lament psalms and offers five theological insights. It traces the development of the Presbyterian rite in the United States and examines its liturgical shape and theology.  It examines the various texts of the rite and assesses the extent to which they provide opportunity of lament. My thesis is that a joint, congregationally-based, educational program is an effective approach for fostering genuine Jewish-Christian dialogue. The research model used is both ethnographic and pro-active from the point of view of a participant/observer.
