Prior to my arrival as Director of Music in July of 2006, worship was characterized by a strong sense of 'performance' of the spoken word and musical liturgy. As we welcome new members and continue to seek ways to live out our covenant to honor and celebrate people of all races, cultures, ages, abilities, sexual orientations and gender identities, our worship must also reflect this acknowledgment of diversity in our community, and must inform our shared experience of the divine in all of our lives. For many, these two influences are oxymoronic. Yet if missional theology and ecclesiology are correct, then the missional church vision must influence attractional megachurches for these churches to be who God called them to be. Through a sermon series, a focus group Bible study, and questionnaires, the project sought to discover biblical and theological correspondence with the denomination's position. The key conclusion of the research was that with some exception there was among the congregation congruence with the denomination's doctrinal statement on a vital teaching that seems unpopular or unwelcome in the current climate of 'felt-needs' ministry. In order to accomplish the goals of this project, the project director researched the topic of leadership and identified various skills of servant leadership. From the skills identified, the director identified two and researched them further: 'the character of a servant leader' and 'the vision of a servant leader.' The project consisted of a leadership workshop made up of five one-hour sessions given over a perios of Friday evening through Saturday morning. The first session was an introduction to servant leadership. In sessions two and three, about the character of a servant leader, the focus was on the skills of humility, values, and integrity. Nine individuals were asked what made them receptive to the charismatic experience. Common influence factors were identified which the group members shared and which made them receptive to the charismatic experience. A method for quickly and discreetly evaluating the theological world of family members is developed, worship elements corresponding to preferred theological world are defined, and guidelines for evaluation of the effectiveness of the resulting service are established. This approach was utilized by the author with 15 families having no formal church affiliation. The author researched the needs through training sessions, surveys, focus groups, and interviews with four experts. The result is the Ministry of Hope and Consolation Funeral Vigil Formation Program that includes a presenter guide, a participant booklet, discernment surveys, and a six-session video-assisted resource. The study used an integrated approach, combining archival and survey methods. Five theoogical issues are explored as they inform partnership. They are the Trinity, the purpose of God (missio Dei), the body of Christ, the gifts of the Spirit, and the church -- both local and universal. A survey was used to have attendees of the CAR Consultation reflect on these theological issues in the context of partnership. Unfortunately, very little has been done to develop discipleship materials uniquely for Native people. This project presents a new spiritual formation process designed specifically for the students at the Indian Bible College in Flagstaff, Arizona. The author researched spiritual formation theory and Native American culture and Christianity. The context for this project is a small town in Ohio that has been struggling with its identity and solidarity. The hypothesis was tested using a workshop, sermons, personal testimonials, and questionnaires.
