However, Africa has encountered industrialization, rapid urbanization, and migration into the cities. The mass migration has resulted in poverty, unemployment, housing shortages, hunger and homelessness, prostitution, and delinquent children. Failure to use local languages, culture, and worldview has produced nominal and syncretistic Christians. This project will help churches to effectively change their way of reaching these people. The method of research was based on James and Evelyn Whitehead's tripolar theological method of doing evangelism. The survey results from churches and mission agencies in twenty-four cities showed that the churches are still rural in their approach and practice."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Northern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e84517db-6a02-4e61-8d84-c85c5905f6d5"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127082165600256,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:38:15.681Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:46:20Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:21:09Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"be3c3f98-f79f-4d5e-9507-6772a6fb7614","accessControl_ssim":["ed5c758d-6e6e-4725-a92d-21dd28cf72b1"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The church in Ghana: towards a redemptive African ecclesiology"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:46:14Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:36:41Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["64c06065-5857-4534-8ac1-a3eb597d6bb2"],"hasLease_ssim":["9de145d4-d3f6-4610-8df8-5ee38859a7f4"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Josiah U Young"],"year_tesim":["1990"],"location_tesim":["Ghana"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The theological reason for undertaking the study is the fact that the Ghanaian church is being rejected by the people due to its alienation from Ghanaian culture, specifically in regards to the ancestoral values of Akans. The evaluation tools used in the essay were Bible studies, discussions after sermons, lectures, questionnaires, and participation in worship services. The growing ethnic diversity in our society today presents a challenge to the local congregation to be intentional in its ministry to incorporate people of diverse cultural and racial experiences into its fellowship. A congregation to be successful in building an inclusive ministry must first begin to value diversity as a gift of God. The local congregation can begin to appreciate the ethnic diversity of its members as a gift of God through Bible study, small group sharing, and sermons.
