Its emergence has come as a result of the philosophical movement of postmodernism and a growing disdain towards modern culture. The main shifts in culture are a movement from empiricism to experience, individualism to community, and rationalism to revelation. Although these shifts are slight, their visible evidenve in the lives of Neo have confused and frustrated Moderns. The main focus of this work is the Western church's misunderstanding of the Neogeist and their initial; refusal to seek an understanding or work with Neo. This work seeks to offer practical solutions to this division."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Western Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["910240dd-6bfb-49cb-ab06-1b8de036aac8"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131942837551104,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:55:31.179Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:40:47Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:52:31Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"367ed983-5234-4527-af48-1204b316b8d2","accessControl_ssim":["67d74845-e2fa-4f89-aa24-1b3cacb65b73"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Inculturation of the gospel among the Agikuyu of Kenya"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:40:46Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:42:41Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["cfd77b9c-528c-4847-b6fd-75df59d6f86e"],"hasLease_ssim":["feede8a4-c999-46b0-a93b-2c66411bf446"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["United Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Norman E Thomas"],"year_tesim":["2001"],"location_tesim":["Africa"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Njenga Kariuki"],"publisher_tesim":["United Theological Seminary (OH)"],"subject_tesim":["African American interpretations of Jesus Christ","Interfaith relations","Africans--Religion","Christianity","Christianity and culture","Kikuyu (African people)"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Christianity among the Agikuyu still remains highly Western creating a cultural dissonance. Missionaries and colonialists alienated Gikuyu lands and also rejected their traditional religion and culture. Field research included questionnaires and group interviews in rural and urban churches of the Roman Catholic Church, Presbyterian Church of East Africa and the African Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa. The research discloses elements of Agikuyu traditional religion and culture could be integrated into Christianity making it truly relevant. Jesus Christ can be appreciated as ancestor, prophet, liberator, medicine man, and sacrificial lamb. Where there is moral decay there is abuse and oppression, and consequently many victims.  This project presents a Biblical, psychological and moral approach to the problem of abuse and victimization.  It explains the nature of abuse and characteristics of victims and abusers.  It defines the nature of courage and the seven moral skills that produce it.  Moral courage empowers people to escape from tyranny and abuse, and fulfill God's magnificent will.  Courage is the single most effective strategy for accomplishing God's perfect moral will in a fallen world."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Western Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["910240dd-6bfb-49cb-ab06-1b8de036aac8"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132410099793920,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:02:56.794Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":3,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Resource Type"},{"name":"creator_sim","items":[{"value":"Njenga Kariuki","hits":1,"label":"Njenga Kariuki"},{"value":"Robert D Oswalt","hits":1,"label":"Robert D Oswalt"},{"value":"Terrance Scott Steele","hits":1,"label":"Terrance Scott Steele"}],"label":"Creator Sim"},{"name":"contributor_sim","items":[],"label":"Contributor"},{"name":"keyword_sim","items":[],"label":"Keyword"},{"name":"subject_sim","items":[{"value":"Christianity and culture","hits":3,"label":"Christianity and culture"},{"value":"African American interpretations of Jesus Christ","hits":1,"label":"African American interpretations of Jesus Christ"},{"value":"Africans--Religion","hits":1,"label":"Africans--Religion"},{"value":"Christianity","hits":1,"label":"Christianity"},{"value":"Church and social problems","hits":1,"label":"Church and social problems"},{"value":"Civilization, Modern","hits":1,"label":"Civilization, Modern"}],"label":"Subject"},{"name":"location_sim","items":[{"value":"Africa","hits":1,"label":"Africa"}],"label":"Location"},{"name":"language_sim","items":[{"value":"English","hits":3,"label":"English"}],"label":"Language"},{"name":"publisher_sim","items":[{"value":"United Theological Seminary (OH)","hits":1,"label":"United Theological Seminary (OH)"},{"value":"Western Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Western Seminary"},{"value":"Western Seminary (Portland, OR)","hits":1,"label":"Western Seminary (Portland, OR)"}],"label":"Publisher"},{"name":"date_created_sim","items":[],"label":"Date Created"},{"name":"types_sim","items":[{"value":"Text","hits":3,"label":"Text"}],"label":"Type"},{"name":"year_sim","items":[{"value":"2001","hits":3,"label":"2001"}],"label":"Year"},{"name":"format_sim","items":[],"label":"Format"},{"name":"member_of_collections_ssim","items":[{"value":"Western Seminary","hits":2,"label":"Western Seminary"},{"value":"United Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"United Theological Seminary"}],"label":"Collections"},{"name":"degree_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":3,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Degree"},{"name":"discipline_sim","items":[],"label":"Discipline"},{"name":"degree_granting_institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Western Seminary","hits":2,"label":"Western Seminary"},{"value":"United Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"United Theological Seminary"}],"label":"Degree Granting Institution"},{"name":"department_sim","items":[],"label":"Department"},{"name":"funder_name_sim","items":[],"label":"Funder Name"},{"name":"event_title_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Title"},{"name":"event_date_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Date"},{"name":"institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Atla RIM","hits":3,"label":"Atla RIM"}],"label":"Host Institution"}],"pages":{"current_page":1,"next_page":null,"prev_page":null,"total_pages":1,"limit_value":10,"offset_value":0,"total_count":3,"first_page?":true,"last_page?":true}}}
