This representation is not expected simply in a global sense, but also as the church gathers in local diverse communities. This diversity benefits the church. Yet, American churches are overwhelmingly mono-ethnic. Since the church is so influential in forming its members’ identities, is the lack of diversity within most American churches detrimental to full identity formation in Christ? What are the benefits to identity formation when the church is healthy in diversity? The research focused on this course and what components are necessary to teach Biblical Theology across cultures that will maximize the possibility of the transformation of individuals in their cultural contexts. This research utilized mixed methods and outlines reasons for the success of the course such as the type of people involved in teaching, the models of delivery and its underlying hermeneutical approach. The researcher employed the descriptive method to collect the desired data and applied phenomenology as an interpretive lens. The researcher proposed a new model of cultural engagement. The adaptational model of ministry operates in the tension between the church, world, and kingdom cultures. The model proposed that ministry activities iterate through four steps: continual feedback, communal reflection, specific action, and effective adjustment.
