While many see this movement as a step in the right direction, many others do not. It is without doubt the Army has always had its issues with discipline; however, it is the overall epidemic of suicide and other high-risk behaviors that has the attention of the entire nation, forcing many to ask why. While many have accepted the belief or ideology that belief in God is antiquated and irrelevant in today’s modern age, many others are beginning to recognize a rise in high-risk behaviors, especially within those serving overseas. A preliminary look shows that those who devote themselves to their faith appear to benefit in ways that cannot be denied. This dissertation examines the overall benefits of those soldiers that are spiritually mature and are considered to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The author will attempt to take aim to understand and counter the ideology that religion and belief in God is antiquated and irrelevant in today’s society leading to the belief that service members ought to follow suit. While the Army takes great initiative towards the mental and spiritual health of the soldier, it is without a doubt that one area of influence is being forced out. It is the focused approach towards faith in God as a benefit to many areas of a soldier’s life that is forcibly quieted, seen as a personal journey not to be discussed, and irrelevant to the overall force. The purpose of this study will be to examine spiritually mature soldiers and begin to understand the benefits of a deep relationship with God while serving on overseas assignments."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["8322f611-a593-413a-8bcd-0011fba52dc7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130014388846592,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:24:52.067Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:18:22Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T03:00:03Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"dd059d0d-cf61-4fc2-a641-d03067b9647c","accessControl_ssim":["ef1a27bc-f3a9-4ad2-8596-22f084461f75"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Towards A Strategy Of Gospel Growth For Churches Facing The Challenges Of Ministry \u0026 Mission In Coastal Contexts In Sydney"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:18:21Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:27:21Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["d3913944-82ec-42a6-8d22-d683e723cb65"],"hasLease_ssim":["88835ece-39d2-44c3-9a73-d4d91dce0aa3"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"discipline_tesim":["Leadership and Management"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"advisor_tesim":["Archie Poulos","William Donahue Ph.D.","David Gustafson Ph.D."],"year_tesim":["2021"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Churches in suburban coastal contexts face a myriad of challenges, especially the lifestyle that comes with living in what are deemed to be ‘destination’ suburbs. This Project is an attempt to consider these challenges afresh against the biblical and theological backdrop of the church’s mission, in line with God’s mission in Scripture. It explores these challenges through the lens of the Bible, 1 Peter in particular, where Christians are very much ‘in exile’. The Project shows how an understanding of cultural movements and demographics, the importance of contextualization as a way of engaging people with the gospel, and how a shift in the church’s thinking towards adopting a ‘Third Place’ posture enables us to show people what real gospel-oriented community looks like. Ultimately it seeks to offer some ways forward along the lines of embracing an urban spirituality, helping people to see how the gospel can ‘reorder their disordered loves’ as they are pointed towards Jesus, and how more intentional training in discipleship and evangelism might equip congregations to be a faithful presence in their spheres of influence. This Project focused upon congregations along Sydney’s coastal fringe. Through interviews with ministers of Anglican churches at the ‘coalface’ and by utilizing qualitative data, the goal is to assist churches that have historically struggled in coastal contexts to formulate strategies enabling them to be missionally effective, through a renewed approach to ministry planning. It is hoped this planning may bring significant, gospel-based, long-term impact on individual church members and the churches, to bring blessing to their suburbs, gospel growth to churches, and glory to God."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c654e922-76d0-4427-ac29-e286b7997781"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799720066766340096,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T03:00:04.396Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:13:48Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:56:41Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"4eb032e2-5194-4edc-a928-21d394fef506","accessControl_ssim":["5b56ff9f-08d0-4e68-9162-ae0b1641f508"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Implementing A Relational Serving Model At Gather In San Antonio, Texas To Motivate People To Reach Out To Others In Their Social Circles Spiritually And Socially"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:13:47Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:26:37Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["6921e764-1d0b-40c4-bd8e-5d57e049fdb8"],"hasLease_ssim":["df5589e5-3b81-463a-8680-34d46d7f258e"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"discipline_tesim":["Pastoral Leadership"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Deron Biles Ph.D."],"year_tesim":["2021"],"location_tesim":["United States","Texas"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Chapter one presents the ministry context and the goals of this project. Chapter two provides an exegesis of four passages of Scripture (Matthew 5:13-16; Acts 17:26,27; 1 Corinthians 9:19-23; Ephesians 2:1-10) to show God’s plan for humanity to walk in a relationship with him. The chapter also explains that God empowers believers by his grace to serve him and calls believers to be a witness for him in both word and action. Chapter three identifies four of the most formal evangelism methods and explains how relational ways of reaching out are a seamless transition from evangelism to discipleship. Chapter four describes the project itself, describing the details of the preparation and implementation of the project. Chapter five evaluates the purpose and goals of the project. This chapter also addresses the strengths and weaknesses of the project. Ultimately, this project seeks to motivate people at Gather, to reach out to others in their social circles towards the goal of being a positive influence on them by both living and sharing the Gospel."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b2ad2862-737d-4dde-8145-b9b6962ac5f3"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132023311564800,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:56:47.925Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:12:14Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:13:12Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"da971b58-505c-4976-8b23-64272e946325","accessControl_ssim":["a8e04c72-9393-429e-a586-ba44b3a6a609"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Incarnational Preaching: The Three-Perspective Model of Timothy Keller"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:12:13Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:22:56Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["9d502cbe-ed53-4d94-8cb1-e268aa1dce20"],"hasLease_ssim":["5f8eb105-1dbc-4161-96e8-ce01a5d3c893"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"discipline_tesim":["Expository Preaching"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Matthew McKellar Ph.D."],"year_tesim":["2021"],"location_tesim":["China","United States","Texas","Taiwan"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Keller’s methodology for preaching is Christ-centered, text-centered, compassionate, exegetically sound, and pastoral. He applies some elements of text-driven preaching. This project chooses twenty of Keller’s sermons from the Old and New Testaments in three different genres (Story, Poetry, and Epistles) to examine his preaching model. This project’s primary goal is to enhance pastoral ministry’s effectiveness through preaching, particularly in moments of crisis and tragedy.John M. Frame’s Perspectives on the Word of God and Vern S. Poythress’s Symphonic Theology shape Keller’s three-perspective model for preaching. Both of them argue that applying multiple exegesis perspectives helps deliver absolute truth and relevant application in the different contexts of the audience. Keller’s preaching methodology can be named “incarnational preaching” because Christ’s incarnation and ministries are evident in all these three perspectives. The result shows that Keller applies almost equal emphasis to both biblical and situational perspectives in his sermons. Sometimes he applies more emphasis to the situational perspective than to the biblical perspective so that the modern audience could comprehend and apply biblical truth to their lives. Additionally, Keller’s personal view takes less than 14 percent of his sermons. It shows that his personal experience and preferences do not dominate his sermons. Keller is willing to share his weakness and get involved with the audience. He shows his compassion for the suffering and expresses his passion for the Gospel. Keller is like a friend of the bridegroom to show that Christ is the center of the entire wedding because “he (Christ) must increase, but I must decrease” (John 3:29-30).Keller demonstrates how to balance, integrate, and unite biblical, situational, and personal perspectives in his preaching. By observing Keller’s sermons, preachers could find that utilizing Keller’s three-perspective model helps explain the text and capture the whole picture. Preachers could learn from his methodology and examine their sermons for these three perspectives to enhance pastoral ministries."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b2ad2862-737d-4dde-8145-b9b6962ac5f3"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133059840475136,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:13:16.436Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:12:12Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:23:02Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"976d6eb8-2eee-4697-85cb-d420b175ea20","accessControl_ssim":["c7dc832a-482a-4ea8-bdd3-e63e4598d94e"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Grace Leads to Joy: Spiritual Formation and the Examen"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:12:10Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:33:26Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["d6448a7e-21fb-4ea8-bfaa-bfdfd7f1c953"],"hasLease_ssim":["5e871a90-10ba-4725-882a-2b562d687272"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Tyndale University"],"year_tesim":["2021"],"location_tesim":["Canada","Malawi","Netherlands"],"resource_type_tesim":["Dissertation"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Hoekstra, Edward Pierre"],"keyword_tesim":["Tests and measurements in religion","Practice (Theology)"],"subject_tesim":["Discipling (Christianity)","Commitment to the church","Kingdom of God","Beatitudes","Reformed Church","Bible. The goal was to explore the role, significance, and potential value of practicing dignified dialogue with other Christians as a way to negotiate divergent theological perspectives in order to determine, in part, how the exchange of ideas via dialogue might broaden understanding and even rightfully further consideration of the subject. A phenomenological research method was employed to discover the lived experiences of Denver Seminary students who practiced dignified dialogue in group studies around the topic of biblical mutuality for ten weeks. Participants’ collective experiences revealed that though participating in dignified dialogue was a difficult, thought-provoking, and tumultuous practice, it was a necessary skill to further develop as it is an essential component of shared humanity . The study affirmed the importance of dignified dialogue as a way to navigate conflict among Christians for the purpose of growing in Christlikeness, modeling unity among diversity, and sharing God’s reconciling love with a broken world."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Denver Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e7af129f-938f-4821-9463-dc6ded35d563"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133371019034624,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:18:13.198Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"D.Min.
