The thesis provides a biblical foundation for church as transformational, incarnational and missional. The thesis reviews current literature in ecclesiology, culture and women in ministry. Two case studies of churches each with a women's minister, representing a modern and postmodern approach to ministry were examined. As a resource for an intentional, specialized approach to missionary preparation, a survey of relevant literature, a review of key socio-religious moments in the development of Pentecostalism in Russia, and an examination of theological concerns of the Orthodox context guides the reader toward a clearer understanding of Russian Pentecostals. Although progress has been noted concerning ethnic and racial relationships among America's citizenship, it is also clear that our nation must continue to move forward in breaking down ethnic and racial barriers that still divide. This dissertation proposes that the solution to what still separates one racial or ethnic group from another begins in the multiethnic church through transformational leadership. The project assumed the mission of the church to be the Great Commission. The research included a pre-test and a post-test following teaching on critical contextualization. The results indicated growth of the participants in their understanding of the surrounding community, a key component of a unique vision for a local church body committed to making an impact on the surrounding culture. The author used action research to study: (1) the initial intercultural competence among campus staff (2) training elements appropriate for the group and purpose (3) changes after training and (4) evidence of the training model's effectiveness. Data collection included pre-training Intercultural Development Inventory [registered symbol] assessments and post-training survey. Socio-cultural misunderstanding hampers relational harmony and ministry effectiveness in affected churches. In response to this problem, the researcher surveyed rurban leaders in three geographic regions of the United States, identified the major recurrent components of the rurban collision, and made recommendations to church leaders concerning how to effectively lead in the presence of rurban socio-cultural tension.
