The Church should search for the same position that Jesus embraced -- live in the tension of being in the world, but not of the world. What would a worship model, maintaining this tension, look like? This thesis begins by exploring the fundamental teachings that are forever necessary to Christian worship. The Church's worship must remain thoroughly biblical with Jesus being the center, no matter what cultural setting. This must form the content of worship. Postmodernism contains some values that are in direct conflict with Christianity, and the Church must never compromise on its beliefs. Other postmodern values, such as the desire for community and the search for spiritual meaning provide the Church a great opportunity to express authentic Christianity and influence many. The cultural values help shape the style and the relevance of worship. This thesis examines four worship services from churches that are attempting to incarnate Christianity in a postmoden setting."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130392693047297,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:30:52.846Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:13:59Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:24:21Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"2435055e-cb05-4f5b-9391-b45e369f7764","accessControl_ssim":["fc2d934a-81c4-414d-acc2-9ae981f9948a"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Media literacy for preachers"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:13:56Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:12:01Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["82a782fb-ad51-40f0-8114-f3f1654bda11"],"hasLease_ssim":["55071885-0ff6-41f0-b828-22da18f91fb8"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Aquinas Institute of Theology"],"advisor_tesim":["Gregory Heille"],"year_tesim":["2004"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Audrey L Borschel"],"publisher_tesim":["Aquinas Institute of Theology"],"subject_tesim":["Christianity and culture","Media literacy","Preaching--Political aspects"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project challenges preachers to preach pastorally and prophetically during crises or when news disturbs by using tools of media literacy to assess news reports, in addition to biblical sources, in the preparation of preaching. The research discloses elements of Agikuyu traditional religion and culture could be integrated into Christianity making it truly relevant. Jesus Christ can be appreciated as ancestor, prophet, liberator, medicine man, and sacrificial lamb. Inculturation will also include catechesis, liturgy, sacraments, music, art, architecture, marriage and organization."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["United Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["f0f9c284-37b6-440c-96ab-39e6509e82ee"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127981943422976,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:52:33.776Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:34:58Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:49:33Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"288dc411-6373-4cb8-9d2a-5c1c0490b3a1","accessControl_ssim":["56fe74d8-cfe6-4323-b7ac-e9cd97b96114"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Christian community in a fragmented society"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:34:58Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:19:13Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["3e5ac16e-0561-4467-943b-f4455380b649"],"hasLease_ssim":["7339d8cd-3790-48fc-9922-5932bf8e3254"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["H Stanley Wood"],"year_tesim":["2003"],"location_tesim":["Scotland"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Andrew Ritchie"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Scotland","Christianity and culture","Church history","Communities--Religious aspects","Social change"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["In just forty years, Scotland has become a secular society and the church has become marginalised. The paper seeks to suggest ways in which New Charges can offer communities of faith that can become places where people may find companionship, purpose and faith.
