Ths information was gained through a written survey of those missionaries who had completed the Assemblies of God Graduate School (AGGS) pre-field training program.  The results of the survey showed a strongly favorable response to the AGGS pre-field training program, with those aspects dealing with cross-cultural communication and cultural adjustment rating the highest.  Language learning was of greatest concern. The principles of andragogy employed in a non-formal setting were found to be the most effective.  Training for cross-cultural service required a heavy emphasis on the development of interpersonal skills. The thesis/text is divided into two parts which address the sociological and theological dimensions of the church, respectively.  Part one deals with the context of the church in America, the development of denominationalism, and the church and culture in terms of the church as a product of culture.  Part two deals with the church in the New Testament, the views of Luther, Calvin and Wesley on the church, Avery Dulles' models of the church, and considers the views of Karl Barth and H Richard Niebuhr.  The thesis/text suggests that our understanding of the church is best expressed in dialectical terms.  God is the one who calls us, loves us and reaches out to us first, but there is also a human response. The biblical/historical/theological question of infant baptism is discussed.  A process is then developed for the discipling of parents to give them an opportunity to make a credible profession of faith at the time of their child's baptism.  The primary training is done by lay people.  A case study method was used in the evaluation of the program. The author is Episcopalian, and suggestions are made to adapt the model for any paedo-baptist denomination. These were implemented in the local church, Chicago metropolitan area, and as a national youth leadership program.  This project included a nationwide questionnaire survey which identified needs and problems of Korean youth, and is based on study of the transition of biculturalism of Korean immigrants, with special reference to youth-parent relationships.  It is grounded in a 'vision theology' for Korean immigrants that has both theoretical and practical aspects. The author's basic assumption concerning the Korean immigrant congregation was that it needed to emphasize a holistic ministry of three perspectives: worship, service, and fellowship, with teaching considered a part of fellowship.  The emphasis was to explore and test how the Bible and theology can be taught meaningfully to a Korean immigrant congregation.  The result was that the participants obtained more biblical knowledge, more theological understanding, and a higher consciousness for coping with and adapting to American culture while keeping their Korean identity.
