We will see through their stories how this new approach was transformative in certain environments and unsuccessful in others."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b5eba5c2-141b-4673-9689-2f9720736859"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129876768489472,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:22:40.822Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:58:04Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:24:52Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"d789112a-ead5-4373-a493-5a5b53fdb81f","accessControl_ssim":["04b7cbf0-aef0-41bb-8cfd-4d7d825c53ca"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Developing competencies for the intercultural journey: designing, facilitating, and evaluating a program to develop intercultural competencies for culturally diverse missional leaders in a multicultural urban context"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:58:03Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:17:45Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["5baf109d-19a1-421d-8f95-3f2ba2a4d860"],"hasLease_ssim":["a8f9e176-3993-4f47-b6bd-8bdf25eaf1d7"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Tyndale University"],"advisor_tesim":["Paul Bramer"],"year_tesim":["2014"],"location_tesim":["Canada","Ontario--Toronto"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Robert Cousins"],"publisher_tesim":["Tyndale University College and Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Cultural pluralism","Religion","Christianity and culture","Social conditions","Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The urban landscape of Toronto is radically changing. People from around the world with different customs, values, and beliefs are now living in close proximity to each other. To effectively engage in ministry in such a multicultural context will require leaders to intentionally develop competencies for their intercultural journey. This research project examined how ten three-hour sessions of training delivered over a 16-week period impacted the intercultural competency of eighteen Christian leaders from diverse cultural backgrounds. Three conceptual models that were foundational in designing this training: Bennett's 'Developmental Model of Intercultural Sensitivity' (Bennett 1998), Deardorff's 'Process Model of Intercultural Competence' (Deardorff 2006), and Berry's 'Model of Acculturation' (Berry 2005). Both the IDI assessment and participant feedback suggested a significant development of intercultural competency of the members of the study group, indicating that a training intervention such as this could increase a leader's motivation, cultural self-awareness, knowledge and skills enabling them to navigate the complexities of intercultural ministry. The findings also suggest the most effective components of the training and how they might be transferable to other intercultural training programs."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Tyndale University"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["602e7e7c-0b8b-4e09-af87-84c66ff49c48"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133792013910016,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:24:54.691Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:48:26Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:42:37Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"8d20128d-fb40-4f7f-966c-0ddb7f328cb2","accessControl_ssim":["a6b1cf68-95b9-428e-8f8d-de70c5c1e7ea"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Leading adaptive change in a Korean cultural context"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:48:25Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:16:12Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["8f4e7ffc-164e-49e9-9c27-db648306bdde"],"hasLease_ssim":["9120feae-4a91-4215-9f7b-79ab99d33d76"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Covenant Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Bob Burns"],"year_tesim":["2011"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["J Kukhun Lee"],"publisher_tesim":["Covenant Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Christianity and culture","Koreans--Ethnic identity","Congregations, Protestant"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this study was to show that the Korean cultural context was an important factor in understanding how Korean pastors led adaptive change. The author used the qualitative research method for this research. An analysis of the interviews with eight Korean pastors who led adaptive change concluded that Korean cultural traits did influence how congregations reacted to adaptive challenges and as a result, affected how pastors led the change. The conclusion was Korean pastors still were able to lead successive adaptive changes by using various necessary tools to navigate the web of enduring social relationships in considerable time."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Covenant Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e57e5218-1d34-47f5-b1a5-b84efbc9e61f"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131134730436608,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:42:40.508Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:47:55Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T01:41:28Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"2d9cdf9e-42fa-41b7-ae25-f590873eb536","accessControl_ssim":["d6c94b93-447d-49b0-a6f2-00937989a7fb"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Equipping disciplers of new Christians from a post-Christian culture"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:47:54Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:27:52Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["15542b20-3696-457b-bff9-d74cd883193d"],"hasLease_ssim":["b4f188f0-a0d3-42c3-87cc-291d2866cd04"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"advisor_tesim":["Greg R Scharf"],"year_tesim":["2013"],"location_tesim":["Great Britain"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["John A Evans"],"publisher_tesim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"subject_tesim":["Evangelistic work","Discipling (Christianity)","Christianity and culture","Mentoring in church work","Christians"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["New believers in the United Kingdom tend to come from secular culture with virtually no Christian background or context.
