This study focused on three key areas that affect how pastors minister to the parents of apostate emerging adults: the religious lives of emerging adults, biblical and theological concerns regarding baptism, apostasy, and covenantal status of children, and policies churches have employed to minister to apostate young adults and their parents. This study utilized a qualitative design using semi-structured interviews with Reformed pastors in the Northwestern United States. The primary goal of the study was to identify methods that are working to initiate and retain Chinese returnees in RFGs. Qualitative field research consisted of semi-structured interviews conducted in China with eighteen members of City A and City B RFGs. Relevant history is traced from the first through the twenty-first centuries. Core principles are presented such as the ultimate authorities, principles of interpretation, communication, contextualization, dialogue, diapraxis, and diplomacy. A Lutheran communicative contextualization process is introduced and emphasizes quad-cultural communication. The biblical basis for strategic planning, involvement of all God's people, and eight approaches in the literature is reviewed. The perspective of outsiders is assessed and interviews with Muslims provide insider perspectives. The result of the research is that TITIP is a promising and effective program that achieves most of its objectives and in general adheres to good principles of teaching.The strength of the program lies especially in its spiritual formation and in its teaching of English. Factors that make the program effective include: native speakers of English as teachers, a student-oriented and interactive teaching style, dormitory living, staff are good models of Christian maturity and servant leadership, the practice of a variety of spiritual disciplines, punctuality, and critical thinking skills. The main concern about the TITIP program is that while providing a holistic training program there seems to be a lack of focus. The two objectives of TITIP are to prepare young Papuans for advanced study domestically and abroad, and at the same time to provide opportunities for preparing them to be 'change agents' and leaders in their own Papuan communities. What pastors see when they look at the biblical text is limited and enriched by context. This project examines context using a specific biblical text, Psalm 87, by creating interaction between Palestinian Christian scholars, pastors, and laypeople and their work with this text. This involved three contexts of interacting with Psalm 87 to meet this purpose: researching the work of western and Palestinian scholars, teaching a doctor of ministry class, and creating a Facebook group to stimulate inter-cultural dialogue.
