This project examines the need for Christianity to identify and become indigenous with Japanese and Asian culture.  The project demonstrates how the Chanoyu (Tea Ceremony), which best represents Japanese culture and spirituality and which has been used in Japanese Christian history, can become the Japanese Eucharist. Data was analyzed from 242 surveys and 92 extensive interviews from Estonian-speaking and Russian-speaking persons, from twelve nationalities, professing Christian conversion since the collapse of Soviet communism. A researcher-designed survey was mailed to a simple random sample of revival participants, asking about nine aspects of their spiritual lives within the first 12 months of the revival and 25 years later.  Survey results showed that even 25 years later the Asbury Revival of 1970 continued to impact the lives of the Asbury College graduates who participated in the revival. The project was designed to: encourage both partners to see decision-making on the basis of competency and shared agreement rather than on gender; see the financial management of the family as a shared responsibility; and build the couple's communication skills in order to enhance an equal companionship relationship. Based on the understanding that both male and female share equal dignity and value before God, the project was conducted with the presupposition that Nigerian Christian husbands can break through tradition to live happily as equal companions with their wives.  To accomplish the project objective, ten selected Nigerian marriage partners participated as an 'experimental group' in a marriage enrichment program. Theological insights from J Fowler, ethicist Glen Stassen, and Craig Dykstra were woven into a complex decision-making model for ethical decision-making. Literary research from Chile, as well as the United States, revolved around the cultural factors that operate within this focused Latin American community.  Theological, pastoral, and structural factors were considered as well. The social research tools involved structured interviewing and pretest/posttest questionnaires. The secondary goal was to discover significant elements in the experience for the purpose of redesigning the event so that the potential for Christian growth might be maximized.  The first learning was that the measurement of significant changes in Christian maturity requires a longer period of time than a one week experience.  The second learning was the surprise: participants dislearned.  They were apparently less sure of answers to questions after the event than they were before it.  The project demonstrated for Presbyterian Border Ministry some of the ways in which its immersion events are flawed. The towns indicated enough potential for improvement to warrant employment of a full-time followup worker.
