The selected churches are categorized as 'missional' because of their ability to effectively organize and mobilize their congregations to live as incarnate Christians in their communities and around the world. The selected churches demonstrate multifaceted ways for engaging a generation with a postmodern worldview in a post-Christendom milieu. This was a qualitative examination of churches from the West Coast to the East Coast. The missional churches that participated in this study have reinvented themselves to become catalysts in the missional movement."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["8322f611-a593-413a-8bcd-0011fba52dc7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130039062888448,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:25:15.597Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:25:22Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:58:05Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"54fe68b7-6191-4536-8406-3392adfc1ec3","accessControl_ssim":["1ac2cb98-aa04-4306-8266-2e83876de77f"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Sunday in the park: living misionally in a marginal setting"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:25:22Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:37:25Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["a08c6476-bd9f-4a94-80c3-ef677b45dd76"],"hasLease_ssim":["40bddd44-027e-49de-860b-703df1ad199b"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Campbell University Divinity School"],"advisor_tesim":["Barry A Jones"],"year_tesim":["2010"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["John S Pond"],"publisher_tesim":["Campbell University Divinity School"],"subject_tesim":["Church and the world","Mission of the church"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The cultural context of today's American religious community is one of rapid and diverse change. The local congregation, which once enjoyed a position of social, moral and ethical influence upon quotidian societal decision-making, has become a marginal (peripheral) and often an ignored participant. In what appears as an oscillating wave of interest/disinterest, the greatest challenge for the church today has become the ability to recognize these changes and to respond missionally as the people of God. The following study/project is an adventure in missional responses to peripheral living."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799719942445072384,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:58:05.834Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:22:43Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:53:06Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"1d55de1c-c00b-4072-acb1-255e9038a9e8","accessControl_ssim":["baf254f1-7d43-48c7-b708-1afa0334d950"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Cosmic conflict paradigm for missiology"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:22:42Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:59:46Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["d8d05570-e308-43a6-ad2d-8c8fe7ca43b7"],"hasLease_ssim":["aba79617-4f63-4a47-b3b2-ea04aa415724"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Western Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Enoch Wan"],"year_tesim":["2010"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Samuel Wang"],"keyword_tesim":["Cosmology--Allegory and symbolism"],"publisher_tesim":["Western Seminary (Portland, OR)"],"subject_tesim":["Strategy","Missions","Cosmology","Church and the world"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This dissertation is an attempt to formulate a cosmic conflict paradigm and to derive from it missiological implications for today's world. Interdisciplinary archival study with philosophical, biblical, theological and missiological research methods are employed. Both the missio Dei and Christian missions take on new meanings from cosmic conflict paradigm. This study shows seven dimensions of Christian missions in correspondence with a sevenfold mission of Christ.
