Through three sets of personal exercises and three group meetings, the majority of project participants demonstrated an understanding of project content and created a growth plan for self-awareness and self-difentiated leadership. Applying theology and organizational theory the pastors will learn how to instruct and model what it means to be part of a kingdom of preists and what is their responsibility as ambassadors in their neighborhood and community. The project included three main phases: research, strategy development, and presentation. Phase one researched demographics of Theodore, Alabama and numerous books on church planting, church revitalization, and church health. The project director also attended three workshops on church planting. An annotated bibliography was used to design a curriculum for phase two. Phase two selected a group of church leaders from First Baptist Church of Theodore who met for five sessions to study the best practices of church planting and develop a church plant strategy for FBCT. Phase three completed the project as the church plant strategy team designed a strategy and a written narrative before presenting the proposal to the deacon body of FBCT. The author led a process of engagement with four churches to support the new church with their gifts, four with their presence and prayer, and four with their service and witness. While conducting a series of meetings with clergy and denominational leaders, the idea of building a collaborative network of United Methodist Churches that can be the foundation and support of a new church wasn't totally possible.
