This project focuses on five effective church planters and the contextualization of their ministries based on an awareness of the implications of the incarnation of Christ. The conclusions of this project report are based on qualitative research that focused primarily on an interview process. Through the use of Merriam's Constant Comparative Method, primary themes emerged that are reported in a case study format. The purpose of this research was to identify those attitudes and practices.  The method employed to investigate this thesis was case study research of two church planting ministries among Muslim Filipinos.  This was done through a questionnaire and follow-up interviews.  This research identified attitudes such as faith, biblical optimism, and humility as helpful attitudes in church planting. The training of the 14 pastors took place in Nairobi, Kenya, in September 2002. The group had one year to put the principles learnt into practice. The class met twice after the one-year period to reevaluate the ten principles they had previously learnt. The project proved that it was possible to plant churches using the ten leadership principles gathered from Paul's speech at Miletus. 5 new churches were planted and the other 9 that had existed before this project began grew by 33% to 185%. The training was derived from the growth model practiced at Saddleback Community Church, as it was implemented in Toronto, Canada.  The dissertation reviews literature relevant to church growth theory and strategy.  It includes two data gathering surveys.  These surveys measure growth prior to and after the training.  The model provided good insight into training lay people for ministry as church planters. The Church Planting Location and Model Guide was developed for demonstrating linkages between the church planter, the focus area, and the church model. New and veteran church planters throughout Virginia field-tested the tool by gathering demographic and psychographic information. Each resulting data profile was analyzed to confirm that the selected church model matched the church planter and his mission field context. First, the project director will review models of strategies for planting Hispanic congregations.  The project director will then lead select members of Calvary Baptist Church to develop a strategy for planting a Hispanic congregation in Waynesboro, Mississippi.  Finally, the director will begin the early implementation process. The project director will secure a demographic report from the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board.  David Alexander, field mentor, will provide a brief synopsis providing interpretation of the demographics.  Moreover, a relationship with Gustavo Salazar, a Hispanic pastor from Laurel, Mississippi, will complement the research of this people group. The strategy will be developed through four training sessions of select members of Calvary Baptist Church.  The sessions will include an introduction to the Hispanic culture, a review of existing strategies, and a synthesis of strategy unique to the ministry field. Research results, theological doctrines, and common church practice were combined with cultural and sociological realities of homelessness to develop a congregational plan for homeless people.  Findings confirmed that homeless people benefitted in areas of discipleship, fellowship, and leadership development. It is concerned with questions regarding the biblical nature of calling, its historical application, and its current impact upon church planters.  The thesis focuses, thought not exclusively, upon church planters within the Southern Baptist Convention, of which the author is a part.  This convention plants between fifteen hundred and two thousand churches in North American every year.  The thesis begins with a presentation of the problem: that the Southern Baptist Convention has moved away from evaluating church planting candidates for ministry primarily based upon their call and their character.  These qualities have been replaced with a premium upon competence.  The author then looks at the call biblically, theologically, and historically to see how others have responded to this concern in other settings. The work then presents the project description, in which the author developed a questionnaire, a conference, and a series of interviews with church planters to assess their opinion about this need in their own lives.  It closes with a chapter on conclusions based upon the project and implications for further studies that still need to be done.
