The study utilized a case study approach describing the church planting programs of five similarly sized denominations, the statistical records for new congregations started in 1993 and 1994, and interviews with church planters,  denominational leaders, and outside consultants. The ultimate result of application of the model was to establish, as a line item in the church budget, a self-perpetuating needs-based educational financial aid fund for seminarians. The methodology included content analysis of audio tape recordings, open interviews, and survey research. The author used for this study a combination of the 'ethnographic research method' and pro-active research method as outlined by William R. Myers' Research in Ministry: A Primer for the Doctor of Ministry Program. The author concluded that no evidence of biases could be found as stated in the thesis.
