A participant's guide was developed by the researcher and was integral for the project. Qualitative and quantitative research methods included pre-assessment and post-assessment questionnaires, personal interviews, various inventories, researcher observation, dialogue, reflection tools, vocabulary tests, and discernment. To maximize long-term retention, active learning engaged experiential metaphors and embodied practices. The methodology consisted of group discussions, creation of a manual, pre- and post-test surveys, field experiences, and observations. The results indicated that this project established structure for the ministry and enhances youth leadership for those youth who participated in youth activities and programs. Groups of young adults participated in a mission-biased experiential curriculum over 16 weeks. Nineteen groups were located in nine cities around the U.S. Quantitative research was done before and after the indepth interviews were done after the sixteen weeks, in order to assess participants' experience of community. The author's hypothesis is that key leader behaviors model a culture of covenant.  These behaviors were defined and prepared as a survey pre-test amongst Coastlands Executive Team members. This narrative study tells the story of the work of a visioning ministry group in the days prior to and during the 2006 Synod.  Looking at the events of this Synod with an 'appreciative eye,' the group discovers the power of individual stories while creating a vision of what the church could
