An eight-member support group focused on leadership, integrity, fellowship and training (LIFT).  The anticipated desire for the development of the project is to create future training opportunities for other laity. It was desired that this project would improve the preaching ministry of the church, improve the preaching effectiveness of the pastor, and provide a model for future use. The project leader researched the pulpit/pew relationship through both theological and theoretical sources. It was determined that the modern pastor needs to come down to, connect with, cooperate within the congregation. It involved teaching multi-level mentor training to a group of cell leaders and cell members. A test to measure identification with statements that reflected the qualities of a multi-level mentoring disciple-maker was given both pre- and post-course to measure any increase in identification, along with journaling. The project constructs narrative techniques in preaching and small groups to allow individuals to understand their lives in terms of character, plot, setting, and tone.  The experiment took place in a medium sized United Methodist Church in Ohio.  The study employed the one-group, pre-test/post-test design utilizing a questionnaire designed by the researcher.  The results were inconclusive. This study found that a collaborative shared-vision process was effective in preparing a core group to start a new congregation.
