The research involves pastors of the Parramatta/Nepean Presbytery.  Methods include personal and group discussion and questionnaires.  The results indicate that pastors are in need of pastoral care and that mateship is an acceptable model for such care. The project establishes support groups from which pastors are able to choose mates for mutual pastoral care. The author conducts interview testing to discover if attitude shifts occur as a result of the subcommittee's work.  He surveys 62 congregations about their confirmation practices. The sample is drawn over a two year period.  The motivational participation factors of the fifty-six respondents are studied empirically to evaluate their correlation with individual characteristics of the participants' individual religiosity inventory scores and church participation theories. The project sought to test the relationship between accountability groups devoted to the practice of classical spiritual disciplines and the development of a supportive community within the group.  It sought to determine the relationship between involvement within the group and involvement in the church at large. Methodology included the formation of two groups and testing of ministry involvement before and after the experience.  Results were mixed regarding the relationship between group involvement and leadership development.
