The training program helped the participants promote their spiritual growth, strengthen their commitment and improve their effectiveness in their services.  It benefited the church in equipping present church leaders and developing new church leaders. Clergy respondents prefer a leadership style of people orientation.  In transitional communities, church growth is correlated with population changes and church programming. The thesis was that churches that corporately emphasized the pastoral roles of enabler and evangelist grow more rapidly than those which place less emphasis on these roles.  A questionnaire was administered to two groups of churches -- a control group of churches that grows approximately ten percent per annum and a randomly selected group of churches that grow slowly or decline in size. A Church Growth Conference provided the context for the educational process.  The church in Acts served as a model for church growth.  Biblical and modern church growth principles were used as the basis for the instruction. Questionnaires reveal that clergy and laity both feel home visitation is necessary. Preaching-centered ministry and home visitation must work together in Korea. It presents a biblical and theological foundation for evangelism and growth. It enumerates the distinctive features of United Methodist churches which may help or hinder growth.  The project then examines growth potential of a specific congregation.  It suggests a model for a five year growth plan and a process for implementing these recommendations.
