Evidence of church decline is already being observed by concerned African leaders in the church. With particular reference to the church in Nigeria, the peculiar nature of church decline and death here is very different from what obtains in the West. It is more of qualitative than quantitative; and it could go unnoticed, except with careful observation. The purpose of this Doctor of Ministry Project is to revitalize a daughter church of Newlife Baptist Church through a process of leadership training. Like Apostle Paul did, experience also shows that it is better to start revitalizing churches while they are still young and malleable, rather than wait till they begin to suffer decline and death. Churches that are given the opportunity of regular re-development have greater chances of being healthy and reproducing healthy churches with time. The selected leaders of Newlife Baptist Church that were intensively trained (and that already have the responsibility of overseeing her several daughter churches) had a Renewal Weekend organized with the daughter church used for this project (New Creation Baptist Church). The purpose is to begin a revitalization process with this church. Much of this is due to a combination of an inward focus and allowing pragmatism to supersede the biblical practice of intercessory prayer and evangelism. The purpose of this Doctor of Ministry Project was to increase the level of evangelistic participation of a select group from East Boulder Baptist Church after an extended focus on intercessory prayer. (1) A consistent, vertically-integrated ministry that recognizes the 'in Christ' relationship as sons/daughters of God and purposefully structures the church to foster that relationship in order to see life change (Christ-likeness). (2) The horizontal mutuality that exists between fellow believers in Christ and how that relationship fosters spiritual growth. A second survey measured congregational responses to the changes. Three areas are identified as contributing to stasis and decline; a shift in vision and values, the personality traits of pastoral leadership, and connection with the surrounding community. Three sets of diagnostic tools were used; the Transforming Church Index, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the FIRO-B Profile, Ministry Area Profile and Compass Report.
