Pastor Min Joo Ra's study is based upon his personal experience of God's powerful hand working through the medium of music within his church, Los Angeles Korean Presbyterian Bible Church. Members renewed their fervor for church as God's love was more fully experienced in light of one of God's precious gifts to man: music. The purpose of this study was to explore systemic factors, denominational and district, that restrict local church health as well as to propose tracks for strategic effectiveness within the Western Canadian District (WCD).  The project utilized four sources of data: focus groups with delegates to the CMAC General Assembly 1998, a national survey of the CMAC, regional meetings with WCD pastors, and a statistical review of WCD churches. Chapter 1 sets the parameters of the project and defines urban ministry.  Along with the church's history and demography, key factors that have contributed to the church's long-term growth and vitality are examined.  Chapter 2 contains the biblical and theological foundation for church growth.  The biblical analysis is meshed with the theological implications for urban ministry.  Chapter 3 focuses on the inherent obstacles that challenge an inner city congregation.  Special attention is given to confronting and overcoming a wide variety of common church growth impediments.  Chapter 4 includes principles and methods that have facilitated the sustained growth of an inner city church.  These transferable concepts can assist other churches' productivity. Chapter 5 provides an evaluation of accomplishments and remaining challenges. Chapter 1 traces the history of Hunter Street Baptist Church, goals, rationale, and limitations of the project.  Chapter 2 contains an overview of the biblical and theological aspects of 'church,' and uses the biblical image to springboard into a rationale for the purposes of the church, and the fulfillment of the Great Commission and Great Commandment of Jesus Christ.  Chapter 3 looks at the mentor/mentoree relationship with the objective of healthy church growth training as an extension of the ministries of Hunter Street Baptist Church.  An analysis of the biblical guidelines for the mentor relationship is included in this chapter. Chapters 4 and 5 examine specific ministry focus and goals in the actual mentor/mentoree relationship offered to partner churches from Hunter Street Baptist Church.  Included are strategies to implement the development of healthy churches and growing congregations. The project's purpose is to help the congregation effectively assimilate new people by placing them in fulfilling church service.  To accomplish this, consultants were trained to use the MBTI to place people effectively in church volunteer ministry.  This project concludes that Myers-Briggs is not an appropriate tool for 'placing' people in ministry.  The ethics of Myers-Briggs do not encourage such usage.
