The research was done via questionnaires and a personal visit to each church by the author. It revealed that there were growing Baptist churches in all four states. Fifteen characteristics were readily acknowledged as significant in these churches and their growth. The characteristics receiving the highest ratings were: uplifting worship services, evangelistic strategy, Bible-centeredness, aggressive pastoral leadership and well-paid staff."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799717291283185664,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:15:57.489Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:39:04Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T03:26:01Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"5b34752a-9bae-40c4-8de2-02ceb6beefb1","accessControl_ssim":["00064aa7-be88-4b9b-8fb3-a3eb8a50d705"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A study of some multi-ethnic congregations in light of church growth and the homogeneous unit principle"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:39:03Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:48:43Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["286eb8c0-155c-439c-8721-02e8f594ed51"],"hasLease_ssim":["392a3883-aa11-45b4-bb96-9bcd95a79741"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Myron R Chartier"],"year_tesim":["1983"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Charles Leonard"],"publisher_tesim":["Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Lutheran Church in America","Social integration","Lutheran Church","Congregations","Church growth","Cultural pluralism","Ethnicity"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This paper deals with the controversial Homogeneous Unit Principle (HUP) and zeroes in on some multi-ethnic congregations of the Lutheran Church in America to examine the validity of the HUP for urban churches.
