It begins by tracing the foundation of its mission throughout its historical roots and demonstrates the profound effects that the YMCA has been able to accomplish when it has operated according to its mission of putting Christian principles into practice. It measures the mission knowledge and application within specific context of Countryside YMCA in Lebanon, Ohio and also examines other research to assess if the results are reflective of the movement as a whole. The conclusion revels that Countryside YMCA has drifted from its mission. The author introduces a three part, reproducible strategy to renew the 'C' in a local YMCA through two training seminars, a chaplaincy program and planting of a missional church that is strategically partnered with a local YMCA."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131571636404224,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:49:37.173Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:51:37Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:39:04Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"7979f88e-0cd3-4fb1-bcb3-bd732e946c0c","accessControl_ssim":["5684a5a1-6033-47ff-9dae-26cecdf2652b"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Moieties, methods and missions' developing a training tool for Alaska-bound missionaries"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:51:36Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:42:19Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["1ef60faa-d9bb-42ad-a645-91a32f070419"],"hasLease_ssim":["ab8ed695-f31a-49cf-8b42-0ec0f1a8c13e"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Ashland Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["John Allan McFarland"],"year_tesim":["2014"],"location_tesim":["United States","Alaska"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["John Harvey Boal"],"publisher_tesim":["Ashland Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Missionaries--Training of","Church history","Missions"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this project was to develop an educational resource that prepared short-term volunteer missionaries for outreach endeavors among the Native Alaskan churches and communities of southeast Alaska. This dissertation encouraged church leaders to do total mobilization through the two main wings of a successful evangelism event, which are fervent prayer ministry and cooperative service ministry. The ministry of Jesus and the early church demonstrated how prayer and service ministry promote effective evangelism. The history of the Korean church's evangelism methods and the crusade evangelism in the United States revealed that fervent prayer and service ministry determined the effectiveness of total mobilization. Furthermore, the field survey proved the priority of fervent prayer ministry and service ministry in church mobilization evangelism."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b2ad2862-737d-4dde-8145-b9b6962ac5f3"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132128498417664,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:58:28.238Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:48:26Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:37:47Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"c1f6b59b-47de-46e9-b872-3cd0bde88c25","accessControl_ssim":["9cb8116e-1529-4a4f-b84c-9ce0f6b98a06"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Seeing our neighbor: using narrative and photographic portraits to connect with mission recipients"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:48:25Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:42:17Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["00731f64-898e-464a-9c1f-cef94a4a1b48"],"hasLease_ssim":["90239102-d6cd-44fe-8d8c-c8add971bc4f"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["J Bradley Wigger"],"year_tesim":["2014"],"location_tesim":["Kentucky--Louisville"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Susan E Moorefield"],"publisher_tesim":["Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Discipling (Christianity)","Church history","Church work with disaster victims","Presbyterian churches--Missions"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Located in the suburbs of Louisville, Kentucky, Second Presbyterian Church's major involvement in mission is through generous, often distant, financial donations. Tongan traditional religion which formed Tongan culture and society still impacts Tongan Christianity. Traditional religious culture has a hierarchical structure which has influenced all segments of society and even Christian beliefs and practices. Immigrant churches have adopted the same hierarchical structure and added other social status, such as wealth and achievement, which create more physical and psychological barriers in the church community. The social issues add up to an unhealthy church, ministry, and Tongan community at large that causes divisions among families. This project relies heavily on historical research to identify the ways in which Christianity as a fledgling religion was able to succeed against the great religions of the Greco-Roman world. Finally, the project concludes that Christianity brought a gospel of hope to the world full of haplessness, especially to the masses in the Greco-Roman world. Christianity created a new community that served the needs of the destitute, generated a sense of belonging, welfare/health agency, and treated everyone inclusively with equality. These findings can provide guidance for a ministry that addresses the cultural hierarchy and traditional theological issues for a revitalized Christianity in both the Tongan and immigrant church."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e7e2d3cb-fc51-4ba5-a7fd-d43f3f8c150b"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131728756080640,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:52:07.015Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:36:06Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:13:05Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"0f851472-0440-4603-94db-71f8db81b21e","accessControl_ssim":["7f0ca854-969d-44ca-b1dd-bcb83778c1cb"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Sex training within the Washington, DC, metropolitan area black church community: a call and response"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:36:03Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:33:46Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["bd1249ef-6a72-47d6-abee-8d55f823bdb1"],"hasLease_ssim":["0380885f-c116-4840-82ba-ec835e9c64ef"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Cedric C Johnson"],"year_tesim":["2013"],"location_tesim":["Washington (D.C.)"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The concept of Wesley's 'holiness' was taught to inspire and to illuminate members as a means to stimulate a desire to become more Christ like believers. Utilizing the study, the writer offered historical accounts of primitive North America Methodist itinerant preachers, the church's movement into North Carolina, and the 'holiness revival' movement among Robeson County American Indians 'Lumbees' and their churches.
