Culturally based differences in styles of worship, leadership, music and outreach are measured through a t-test.  Differences in orientation result in the polarization of the groups. Sixteen events which involve nine local churches in Norwich, Connecticut, are designed, enacted and evaluated.  Each congregation is associated with one of the denominations active in the Consultation on Church Union. The major problem addressed is how to overcome the apathy and resistance to interchurch cooperation among Protestant churches within a medium-sized metropolitan community. Using the original sources of their diaries, letters and published works, their own words are transposed from the written form onto the stage as two-act dramatic monologues. Two completed scripts are included in this work; they are the Fry and Stowe plays which have been performed before live audiences whose feedback is included (chapter 7) in the work and whose reactions informed the re-writing of the finished scripts. Those scripts, with historical introductions and study guides, comprise chapters 3 and 5 of the work. Areas of similarity and weakness were identified.
