The history of the Perspectives course is recounted, focusing on the cultural and missiological environment that influenced the course. An annotated bibliography covers the history of the evangelization of various regions of the world. The author created a guide for Perspectives program developers to aid them in adapting the historical section into their particular cultural contexts. This thesis provides a model for introducing church history to the local church through a vacation Bible school.  The curriculum has been written for kindergarten and elementary ages and focuses on the lives of six influential men and women of faith. Three theses make up this project.  First, the pastor should be a teacher of adults in the local church.  Second, church history should be taught in the local church.  Third, a good way to teach church history in the local church is by using a chronological episodic arrangement of primary documents.
