Their changes were compared with pre- and post-test questionnaires to the changes demonstrated by a random sample group from the congregation.  The program included components of mutual selection and commitment, building of community, voluntarily chosen disciplines, a body of content, use of action and reflection, integration of body, mind and spirit; and the use of time. This project determines the value of these principles by reviewing and summarizing some theologians, including those of the Wesleyan or Nazarene tradition, identifying and evaluating the contributing factors, and determining by a case study of local Nazarene churches the value of church growth and decline principles. Asserting that God prescribes caring as a cure for diversity, the project attempted to teach the church to care and understand the identity of the people of God as a caring community.  Personal contact, sermons, classes and administrative plans all played a part.
