Lay visitors were recruited and engaged in ten training and supervisory sessions.  During three months they visited active and inactive church members.  Parables of Jesus provided a framework for understanding the visitations.  Listening, caring, motivation and other pastoral skills were demonstrated, practiced and applied.  Various problems and opportunities were encountered and dealt with in recruiting, motivating, and training visitors. Training effectiveness was measured with multiple choice tests, and pre/posttesting, resulting in an 88 percent increase in team members' understanding of their role in new member assimilation.  The project leader's effectiveness as an instructor and 'ministry sharer' was measured by a scaled Instructor Evaluation instrument and a partial Taylor-Johnson Temperament Analysis.
