The purpose of this project is to explore how a renewed understanding of 'apostolicity' can bridge social and cultural divides. The three samples of this study will include two movements (one ancient, one contemporary) and one local church. In addition, there is a biblical-theological overview of 'apostolicity' (with focused exegesis of Ephesians 4 and Acts 17). This dissertation will seek to resource youth leaders to equip youth for biblical church membership. The hope of this dissertation is that youth ministries will consider biblical church membership as a primary strategy in their ministry. The purpose of the project was to change attitudes, so church members would willingly include more people in the future. Two sermon series (self-differentiation; sacrificial inclusion) were preached over 12 weeks, with pretests and posttests measuring participants' attitudes toward this change. Responses to both were positive. The director identified not only the necessities, but also the best practices critical for inclusion in equipping seminars. The director also developed a curriculum structured to teach four equipping sessions. The director successfully completed the sessions, thereby equipping selected leaders of Macedonia Baptist Church with new member assimilation skills. The drop produces progressive distancing from the rootedness of Christianity, a propensity to become secularized, and the loss of relationships that formed these youth as children. This paper studies whether there is a connection between the way churches understand and prepare for Confirmation and possible reduction in attendance after it.
